Some of you dudes need to understand the skill of mixing gift of gab and humor. Also being down to earth puts a lot of people at ease and disarms them. It gets you out of a lot of situations. This of course, requires you to understand your audience. I feel for you brehs who have some micromanaging uptight ass bosses. Sorry.

Also, whoever said white people don't care about that shyt as much as black folks is correct. Sadly it's for the wrong reasons that is the case because their expectations of black hair is really simplistic and stereotypical. It really has to be noticeable for them to even care, if they do care about that. Basically, if you got on a call looking like Buckwheat then they will say something. Not to mention their usual prejudice views on a lot of black hair styles like braids. That is another issue. But in your case, white folks are not going to notice, on a zoom call, that you're not lined up. Only black folks are intune with that shyt. White people don't even understand why we brush our hair when it's short. :stopitslime:

Exactly. They don't understand our hair in general, so if we look a little different, they won't say anything. Not because they didn't notice but more because they don't know if it's a new style/new black hair thing and they know commenting on a black person's hair can lead to a call from HR.

WFH doesn't mean you can let your appearance go, especially if you're in a client facing position. Buy a clipper to keep yourself "presentable" between hair appointments.

You'll probably be fine, but you can just "apologize for the other day" next time you're in contact with your manager. You thought enough of the situation to make a thread about it, so consider doing it. Call it "managing up."

treat a zoom call like an IG post brehs and risk your pay cheque thinking those rich corporate crackers care about your hairline more than keeping clients happy :francis:
