Not sure how you see him like Nique. His lateral quickness is off the charts and when he plays man defense, it tends to be very good. He is very active in the passing lanes. He seems a lot more like a 6'8 Allen Iverson than anyone else. He can get to the can at ease. He has a nice shooting stroke. He has a great chance to be one of the best to play this game.Definitely going to dap the OP. I've been thinking this for months, since they showed his team in a tourney in December on ESPN. Then later showed them in some invitational.
What I like most is that his game is humble. He's not a take the ball every drive type player like Parker or Randle. The funny thing is, I immediately thought of a coordinated Tristan Thompson when he was at Texas. Dude will hustle for every rebound like Dennis Rodman. He's quick off his feet repeatedly and really tips the ball. Based on that alone, he will have success in college. With the ball, he's ok. Not a Kobe type. I would call him athletic as hell, but at the same time he's not the rangey, agile type. I think of him like Dominique Wilkins, but with better handles for his upside and and Reek with lesser driving and ball handling skills at the other. The thing is though, while I wouldn't call him polished, he's pretty mature on the court for a guy his age, which is what puts him ahead of a guy like Randle who is still a bit out of control at times. This is precisely why I think he will have a better season than any freshman out there. He's ready mentally and physically to start and do really well. Not Kevin Durant freshman well, but that level below. This is why he'll get picked first. He's like the perfect college player. He will make Kansas a contender again.
What I don't like about his game..........nothing. He is who he is, but it surprises me that he dominates #1 draft talk. If I'm talking about an NBA impact player at 26, Randle would scare the hell out of me as an opposing player and coach. His on the court drive is relentless. I bet he makes a hard push for #1. It all depends on if Cal can corral this dude and not let him run wild like Archie did. Get him in the flow of the offense, and work on shot selection, he can have a Durant type season. I think Parker and the Andrew Harrison have a chance to better pros as well since their game is crafted more in that vein. Duke's style of play will really enhance Parker's chances. That's why the undisputed #1 hype is weird to me.

Nique didn't have that. Nique has the scoring and explosiveness and even then he couldn't jump near as high as Wiggins who might be the best jumper since VC.
Kobe at 18 had way better jumpshot, footwork, and fundamentals. Bron had more athleticism and better passing/vision. They were equal on pretty much everything else (handles, quickness, maturity, etc.).
Only reason Kobe didn't have as much individual success early on is cause he played for a LOADED team. Remember that Eddie Jones, Van Exel, and Shaq were all all-stars. Bron came to the worst team in the league. Put Kobe on the Cavs and he drops 20ppg his first season. He averaged 17ppg his second season coming off the bench playing just 28 minutes is proof he was ready. If he played 38+ minutes like Bron did his first two seasons, he coulda averaged 25+ppg.
The problem with that is Nique lacked lateral quickness, he struggled greatly on defense, he didn't make others better because of his lack of playmaking ability. Nique while not the same as Melo overall impact in his prime is Melo like. Wiggins is more like A.I. but much taller, his impact can be off the charts. A.I. also was a good defender even though he was undersized. A.I. didn't have to work on his game much because he was so good as it was. Wiggins is the same but if Wiggins does which he has, the sky is truly the limit for him.Not questioning his athleticism at all. Not even questioning his game. But he's not a 6'8 Allen Iverson because that's just not the way he plays. I compare him to Nique because despite Nique being the go to guy, he had a great "garbage" game. Wiggins is great at that stuff. Tip ins, follows, etc. Even though he might possess the ability to be a slasher, that's not what he does very often at this point. Perhaps he gets to Kansas or the NBA and changes that. But I'm just questioning if you spend a #1 on a guy who may never be a first offensive option who isn't a defensive center when there will be some of them available who are on his level.
Y'all are hyping up Karl Towns & Jahlil but really sleeping on Cliff Alexander. He's a beast in the paint.
