I'm at the point where I think Black people who work in close proximity to whites should set up recording devices in a break room setting to capture the conversations they have when we aren't present.

a small, well placed go pro camera in a break room can teach you everything you need to know about "how far we've come"

What I see before I see color is action and intent
Being black doesn't mean we are comrades
Being white doesn't mean we are enemies

There are black people who would hurt you far before they help you
There are white people(people of all races really) who would help you far before they hurt you

The automatic assumption that if a person differs in appearance from you then you are automatically enemies is unfortunately how most humans(particularly blacks and whites) perceive things

I personally prefer to rely primarily on myself
I relate to others on a moment to moment basis
And that's regardless of race
If humanity keeps on letting their actions be directed by bias this shyt called racism will never end

Honestly it doesn't matter to me anyway
I live in my own personal space which I govern by my own law
So if the masses continue to act so ignorantly why should I give a fukk
I can't force the world outside myself to prosper

We actually had this debate in my Psychology of Race and Ethnicity class. I just straight said, "If you come up to me and say I don't see you as black what you're saying to me is, you have this definition of what black is and I don't fit that definition. Sorry but I'm a black woman, I'm proud of being a black woman, and I don't care if you call me a black woman."
