I know OP said he's a millennial but this brings up a point i made in another thread, that hardly ever gets talked about outside of The Coli.
It's cool for black ppl to talk about how black millennials are just sorry lazy creatures etc, but nobody talks about the other side of how OLD nikkaS DROPPED THE BALL in the first place, so those of us out here trying to build are literally doing it from scratch.
NO OLD nikka passed me down a business or helped me start it. NO OLD nikka even gave me a job. And that's the same case for other black men my age. Guess who gave us a job and other resources we need?
Older black men especially have absolutely NO ROOM to talk, but they're usually the most vocal about how young nikkas ain't shyt.
Their sons, nephews, grandsons, etc are out here with no businesses, no resources, no land, no trust fund, not even a share of stock passed down from these nikkas, but they have so much to say about how "spoiled" we are
Everything we got we had to go to non black people for. And you expect us to kiss your ass? For what?
Old nikkas are the ones who are really entitled. They feel entitled to praise and getitng their ass kissed even though they didn't pass down shyt.
Even though there are some who do feel entitled...as a whole, black millennials don't feel "entitled" to shyt...because we didn't ever get shyt from our "elders" in the first place. Entitled to WHAT?
We never got "handed" shyt in the 1st place so most of us don't even know what that's like. We didn't get any businesses from you nikkas. No jobs from you nikkas. No property. No trust fund. No help. We're out here trying to get it ourselves AND helping your old, ungrateful asses. Old nikkas have it backwards. They thought they weren't supposed to pass anything down and that it's their offspring's job to pass them something out of thin air. It's harder to build when you weren't even given something to work with in the first place.
I grew up with a mix of friends of diff backgrounds because of the school i attended.....know how many of my asian, white, arab etc friends took over the family business, or at least got a job working for people who looked like them?
Compare that to how many of my black male friends, relatives etc who didn't. All of us had to go to non black people for jobs.
We never complained, we did what we had to do, but old nikkas need to stop trying to re-write history. Most of our "elders" dropped the ball. They Con't know anymore than we do. They're nearing retirement age and still don't even understand the system.
