Use your job to your advantage. It's a job yes but remember you get a paycheck. Invest your cash where you can afford and use your credit/cash to get some real estate or something. My homies back home in Oakland are techs for Comcast. They just voted the union out and got an increase. A massive increase at that. My boy went from 32.00 an hour to 39 an hour. That's not a lot of bread for the Bay Area but if you go out to places like Sac, it's a bit more affordable for property. Plus with standby time and overtime they lookin at over 100k easily. That kinda cash man start something up.

It's tough to get everyday people to get interested / understand investing...good on you for trying though :salute:

A big part of it is that you've got to have a basic "against the herd" mindset to really outperform in the investing world. The biggest gains get made when folks are screaming and running for the exits, panic selling, etc.

By default, most people are going to go with the herd...it's just human nature. So when it's a good time to buy, your friends are looking at you crazy :francis:
To be a leader means you can't be afraid to fail or fall on your ass.
People will either be receptive to your pitch or not.
Aiming for meritocracy or lukewarm sentiments is never the goal.
I want my ideas to either hit or fail. The problem is so much of life operates on a continuum of a happy medium, where life isn't so black and white.

I like getting this money though and I lie my job and the ppl. Also I make sure to do shyt after work and my days off. But I also live 5 mins from my work so I don’t have to sit in an hour or more of traffic.
My hope is to buy a duplex or triplex or someshyt in the next few years and rent that out and keep going from there. Unfortunately I don’t have time to be an entrepreneur any other way. Got a kid and bills.

ive worked for some big companies

AT&T
Verizon
Chase Bank
Honda
Footlocker/Champs

every. single. job. had a lot of downtime and honestly all the work could be done in 15-20 hours a week instead of 40, some even less than that probably.

Sit there for 8 hours and 4-6 hours of the day you arent doing jack shyt except shooting the shyt until an opportunity walked in

Walk by your local Verizon or AT&T at 11 am on a Tuesday, you'll see 4 employees and maybe 1 of them actually doing something while the other 3 are leaning on a counter hoping you walk in.

Where maybe if the corporations just ran 2 shifts

8 am-12 pm with 1 shift (but paid to compensate the difference) and 4 pm - 8 pm with another different shift of people, would fix a lot of mental issues and stress more than likely in america

the very few people that go between 12-4 pm is just not worth staying open or losing out on life

Ebay is my main breadwinner right now. I regularly have $500-$1000 days on there. Making what would be a week's pay at my old job in one day. Shopify is second in line. Whenever I run my Facebook ads it's pretty much guaranteed sales for me. The subscription pays for itself. My first Ebay store (1200+ listings) is doing so good I just started a second Ebay store and I anticipate that to be bigger than my first one. This month I coached 2 people for free to help them get started on Ebay and I had 2 more people on Instagram message me for help so I might start charging for that too. There's money in everything if you got the eye for it. None of this happened overnight. It took a lot of work on my part and a lot of trying to figure shyt out but I knew what I wanted.

I guarantee everybody in this thread with a 9-5 has a skill that they can monetize. Find out what that is, package it in the form of an online course and it might make more than that job you're working. Ya'll should really visit the "6 Figures, 6 Certs" forum. A lot of free game being dropped in there daily.

Uncertain grounds
Sometimes i wish i had a 9-5 and i still apply to some openings when i see them but im content for now owning my condo and working like 20 hrs a week from september-may then like 10 hrs per week tops from june-august

I just bought some classes from udemy during the memorial day sale and am looking to parlay that into a remote IT job eventually. Idk

Im making enough to pay the bills and save a little bit..plus i have a roommate that pays me rent plus half of all utilities..but idk i kinda feel like a bum sometimes

On the other hand my stress level is like zero

If you have a skill you can always try working as a consultant. I'm really considering doing some counseling on the side since I studied psychology. I'm currently on the 9-5 grind too but if you can carve a little time to do some email consulting or some phone work for one hour every other day you can eventually transition that into a full time job where you make your own hours and are your own boss.

Especially if you're able to get investments in the form of a house or some index or mutual funds. You get a house, rent that basement out or even a room if you've got a 2 bedroom.
