College isn't all that it's cracked up to be. :francis: This is coming from a chemical engineering student as well.
But if you really want to do it. :manny: Just be financially smart about it.
I know so many chemical engineering students, what is the deal??

I can't knock you OP.
If this is something you really want and it's one of the things you need to feel whole/accomplished, do the damn thing.
Just make sure before you spend money/go into debate that it's a degree you really want and something that can open doors.
Also don't go back to college half stepping. Universities(community or bigger) are all about networking and talking to people. If you are doing that, you are going to miss out. People now a days are getting jobs off the pure strength of connections and who they know.
Good Luck:salute:

Entrepreneurs, athletes, musicians et al aside, I'd say having a degree in this day and age is a minimum. It opens doors that otherwise wouldn't be open if you didn't have one.

History? Get a realistic degree that actually gets you a real paying job. Liberal Arts majors still don't get it? That's why you feel this is a waste of money.

STEM makes the world go round breh.

Well, most of you know my story :francis: I graduated from high-school in 2013 with high honors. Then, my moms got sick a week later :snoop: I went to college, but didn't follow through. However, I did get a certificate saying I had grade satisfactory :obama: Now, I have a job that I really feel disatisfied at. At this time, I want to get into trades, but don't know what. Plus, I want to go back to college to get a degree in History :obama: I just won't feel whole until I go back to college:mjcry: Man, I miss volunteering and feeding the homeless. That was my life. Don't get me wrong I'm not a suicide level, but I just feel useless without that degree and doing things. I could just stay this way and settle for a chick doing nothing :yeshrug: However, I want better for myself. I knew that I had "IT" when I had my community college professor shake my hand on the last day of class. The guy doesn't just do that with anyone:manny: Passed his class with a C+.

P.S. after high-school I just didn't have that support that I needed. Anyway, I did think about doing Real Estate as a trade (selling homes).
It's great you want to go back to go school, but for real you should minor in history and get a degree in something more lucrative (economics, finance, math, computer science, marketing or business admin, any science besides social science). That way you can make money to fund your hobby

I agree but if you don't like STEM jobs then you wouldn't want to go to school for it regardless of pay.

Why are there so many young people going into chemical engineering and what is the attraction? Is it really that lucrative?
You probably just happen to see or be around many. Compared to the other traditional disciplines such as Mechanical or Electrical, ChemE departments usually have the fewest number of students. Attraction? I don't know. :pachaha:Is it lucrative? Sure. I typically see the starting salary listed as somewhere between $60,000 and $70,000 and one can easily be over 6 figures by mid-career. :manny:
