Thanks I didn't read the thread the pictures give me a feel for the place I'm definitely hitting it up.I asked because since you've been to both places, then you've been to Cali and Choco. Choco especially since it's more of a big town than a small city. Here's a a link to my album while there: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=aWJPZTdWZHRJeE1YMEVSTlVMZ1dpS2Q4bGZPYV9n

Based on Ghana how much would you say you spent on accodomations?
I was told that Ghana was low-key expensive even compared to Kenya. Everyone talks about how cheap Colombia is.
I'd say that comparing Kenya to Jamaica and DR I'd say DR is technically the cheapest but it's not a huge difference. Jamaica is probably the cheapest overall but it doesn't have as much American stuff as Kenya or DR
Overall I prefer Kenya as it has the most stuff and is the most fun with more things to do
I heard that Ghana was not what people expect unless you staying at 5 star spots only.I was at a hostel (which is not our.hostel, it's still a hotel if not a motel really) and I was paying as low as 35 cedis a night, from 50 a night because I was there for so long, especially during the lockdown which students weren't allowed to return. That's $8.64 to $6.05 a night. Bathroom and toilet Included. You think I'm being redundant but what you need to understand is that—or what I should say what you already know—not every lodging has its own toilet and bath. sometimes you will find what do you call a chamber and Hall which only includes the room but a public toilet and shower.
That was lodging but food. Same price for a decent restaurant but I use the word decent loosely. Local food could be $5.18 or 30 cedis max. What people need to understand especially these failed mind readers on this forum is that fast food and food in general here in Ghana is different from the United States. Customer service is a privilege not a right. Fresh food is a privilege not a right. Order within is an establishment is a privilege not a right. I've gotten food poisoning in number of timeshare while in Ghana. I'm talking about having the runs and hurling. There's no such thing as asking somebody at a restaurant for a certain cut of meat. You accept what is given to you. That means you may ask for beef in addition to your fufuand instead of getting pure meat you might get a piece of bone with collagen skin fat and a small amount of meat and that's just the way it is. Chicken is chicken it is not separated between dark meat and white meat. You will have to be stoic and fight to keep your position in line because anyone will skip you without a thought. Ghana is the place where the waiters and waitresses will use colonial names in this case English names but barely understand your American English and then have the gall to look in your eyes and tell you that you need to speak English. If yes is also a place where false advertisement is the norm. You will see banners have pictures of foods that not only they do not serve but they won't tell you that either. You see a picture of a burger? That's just clipart the pub in never serve the burger as long as the restaurant was open. You will see pieces of food that was cooked in the morning still there any afternoon and when you ask for new food to be cooked they'll look at you like you are the problem. Again as I have said before if you're going to take your colonial Masters name and language a language in which spell check is not used so you will see misspelt words on banners many many many times, then the least you could do is to take his business model and acumen but that is not the case at all in Ghana. A lot of businesses don't have phone numbers and even when they pick up the phone really they will introduce themselves in the name of the business so it begs the question is their business and personal number one in the same? For those who eat salads there is no such thing as salad dressing just Mayo and ketchup. Fast food here is ramen noodles and eggs that's been barely scrambled and cooked to high heaven. Don't come to Ghana looking for egg recipes from the United States. Eggs are only cooked one way here in Ghana. It's almost as if it's not about enjoying the food but just sustaining yourself. And then you're fine the same day in Accra just at higher prices.
My small head wants me to stay in SA. It's a chubby chaser's paradise and I pay them how they way I kiss don't like the fact I'll be around whites and others even though need make up 80% of the population. I'd have to check when they'll be open to US travelers. I'm also a trench dweller and know I'll can easily get bodied there. Lifestyles of the poor and dangerous.I heard that Ghana was not what people expect unless you staying at 5 star spots only.
I went through the Africa rage when iggas give you some janky shyt and look at you crazy when you complian. I had to tell myself a million times that I was looking at shyt with a white mindset and at the end of the day they were adults and I shouldn't talk to them crazy just because they didn't yell back.
You scream on someone in Jamaica and they'll challenge you. Did you say "fukk it" and say point me to the white side of town? I agree that if you're a real traveler you should spend some time figuring out a place. But getting multiple rounds of food poisoning??
You know there's fat assed in South Africa too right?
The only reason why I'm still here is because I'm trying to have things (mostly fabric and clothes) shipped back to the US. this is so I don't have to leave my things here go to Kenya and have to come back to pick up my extra luggage because I didn't want to travel to Kenya actually heavy. I don't want to return here at all for any circumstance. Now it may sound like I hate Ghana which I don't and I've said I'm fortunate to be in Africa for 217 days instead of being in America as crazy as that sounds but my journey here in Ghana is over it is time to move on. If it wasn't for the Chinese and the Corona virus I would have left months ago.To be honest I have cousins that have gone to Ghana recently, and they said that they never want to go back. So I actually believe and respect KongoEmpire's experience

There isn't a "white" side of town. People here want western money for Ghana-standards which is absurd. The building craftsmanship is is abhorrent. Look for yourself:I heard that Ghana was not what people expect unless you staying at 5 star spots only.
