I'll be honest. As a male, he's simply demonstrating that you haven't yet proven yourself a worthy catch. He's nonchalant because he, again, more than likely has various options. It doesn't sound like you've done too much to reciprocate any interest other than respond to his messages. If he has other women bending over backwards, do you logically think he's going to chase someone who can't even be bothered to pick up the phone once to shoot him a message?
