depends. he could be playing, but you could also be coming off as not interested. a man has to initiate, but it gets tiring having to carry the conversation all the time. If you're merely responding and mirroring what he's doing, he can take it that you're not interested. if you never initiate contact with him, he could feel like he's carrying the load and just get tired of it after a while.

Serious question, when you talk to a guy offline do you just respond to what he says or do you engage in the convo?

The man should always be the first to initiate everything. Ladies are supposed to just sit back and relax. If he can't be bothered to do the legwork, then this ride is not for him.

There's a time when women can play that game to filter out the lames, but at a certain point, a guy stops and thinks to himself "I hope I'm not coming off too strong or like an obsessed creep." Then the diminishing returns start to set in, and then the feeling that he won't solve her puzzle, so he's not going to waste everyone's time. So it's best to give some kind of consistent indication that you are interested. Maybe call him a few times or make the suggestion to go out rather than wait for him.

I'm very engaging, but then again.. when I'm talking to a guy in real life, he doesn't say brb then disappear and return as if nothing happened. People play more games online. I've had guys try to pull off wannabe James Bond in real life too. I take it as a sign they've already got a chick and are just trying to low-key add me to the roster. Or maybe they're hiding worse.

To be real with you, a lot of women ruined the cushion they used to have. They got around to 'clowning on' and 'exposing' guys who hit them up, calling them thirsty and all kinds of things, so now, men ain't going to do all of that legwork. If they aren't getting signs that you are interested and you don't ever initiate, then a lot of men will simply move on. Now you don't want to be draped all over the dude, but if all you do is just answer his questions with short replies and never really ask him about himself, then he'll think you're not interested and will do what he's doing, which is pop up.
