I own a PS4 & 70 games, Switch & 20: ZELDA BOTW is the best game of both consoles by a huge gap.

the game could still have all the elements you listed if weapons lasted twice as long as they did now

its really no excuse in a game about exploration for the treasure that you get as a result of exploring to expire so quickly

why even spend time completing a quest or a shrine to get some sauced up bow or sword if you have to use it so sparingly you might as well play the game without it

its nothing to do with laziness and more the fact that nintendo shot themselves in the foot with the weapon sensitivity and were lucky enough to not hit any tendons or bones in the fact that the game was still good enough to make up for it
I had no issue with weapon management in the game after a solid investment of Korok seeds to have more inventory space.

Just remember a few areas where enemies carry solid weapons and if you run low for whatever reason go back there after the Blood Moon respawns. The same goes for the Guardian battle shrines. Nothing easier than do a quick run through two or three shrines after they respawn and be stacked with Guardian weapons and shields for says.

Again, the weapon durability played into you figuring out the best way to combine it with other elements of the game. If you find that tedious, that's one thing but if you figure it out more parts of the game start to click and it never gets in your way.

This thread once again shows that most people were not playing the game as Nintendo had intended it.

The weapon durability system was part of the game's deeper combat strategy built on experimentation. The game encouraged you to use the different powers and the world's physics to combat enemies. Drop steel boxes on your enemies with Magnesis, lead them to a cliffside with food, then pummel them off with a two-handed weapon or draw them into high grass and set it on fire, etc.

On top of that you'd have to learn which weapons are most effective against which enemies (and the color ranking of enemies) so you don't waste valuable hits on a high level sword on a low level grunt.

Could the game have used a repair mechanic for weapons? Certainly, but if you kept running out of weapons it's because you were just hack & slashing your way through the game and not using the other tools that the game gave you to fight enemies.

Nintendo's folly was underestimating how lazy and uninspired gamers are and how many of them just wanted to hack away at enemies the whole game and only use the powers during puzzles.

But at least those gamers got another Hyrule Warriors out of that realization. :lolbron:
And its really easy to replace weapons.

The enemies and weapons strength scale with how many divine beasts you do. After the third your easily finding weapons that are 30,40, even 50+ in attack strength.

There are certain locations like the coliseum where enemies have really good weapons, lynels drop crazy strong one handed swords, shields, and bows

The durability system takes some getting used to but its not bad

I felt like after a while i had more than enough access to high level swords that i didn’t even think about it.

Unlike other games where you find one good sword and use it for the entire game and everything else is junk

only thing i hated was the invisible barriers. solid trade off for being able to climb everything that wasnt walled off tho

if the next elder scrolls incorporates that "climb everything" shyt it will probably best BOTW, at least for the time being

MGS V is slightly better. The only other games that come close is RE7 in VR and TLOU 2

That’s how i feel about Elden Ring. There are rumors they are putting some of that climbing and swimming stuff in it, and if they do it will be the best open world rpg ever because soulsborne combat is already vastly superior to everything else out.

MGSV isn’t even finished They reused missions for the final act and used concept art for the ending :mjlol:

If you have time this guy explains it well.

Plus I'm speaking on gameplay primarily, which is the reason I play games.

The games that i like supplement the gameplay with a good narrative amongst other things, like the metal gear solid series is known for doing.

I shouldn’t have to sit at a static screen in my helicopter listening to tape recordings to understand the plot of the story.

The best things about movies and games is that they have the ability to show more than they tell. MGSV was one big exposition dump in the form of an onscreen audiobook

You could also listen to them while doing side missions, actually that's the best time to listen to them. I didnt beat mgs 1, 2, and 4 so I dont care about the MGS story. This game still has the goat stealth.

:what: there’s not way possible u would rank MGSV high if u beat those. MGSV objectively isn’t a finished game. BOTW is boring to me and it’s still better than MGSV.

From what I hear 3 is the best one and that game was :russell:. I have all of the MGS games and have played all of them but have only Beat 3, PW, Portable ops, V.

MGSV felt like a drug to me. Once I figured out how many ways you could play it was like crack. I put in 180 hrs in a month in that game. BOTW was similar. Like I said if you need games to force you to play in a different style or you don't play with imagination with your playstyle then games like MGSV and BOTW would be boring af.

BOTW gives you a set number of tools but they have so many applications you can approach a situation a different way. MGSV on the other hand gives you so many tools its insane.

You can play from a 1980s spy armed with just an assault rifle and a telescope, to a futuristic soldier with high tech weaponry and futuristic drugs, to a Rambo like character with high powered weaponry. Not only can you play with varying shades of grey between those styles you can switch between those pretty quickly. This also discounts how buddies interact with the gameplay, air strikes, and how the enemies react to your playstyle.

As a thing where you control an avatar with a controller there is no game beating MGSV. Best gameplay hands down.

Lol at these ridiculous love letters to this game

Bro my potna got out the pen and I let him borrow my Switch to have something to do while he was on house arrest and he said this game was boring as fukk. How you gonna bore a nikka who just got done doing 6 years to death idk, but this shyt is a snoozefest and a lot of nikkas in here probably just don't want to be honest with themselves and admit it.

What reason would anyone have to lie? Lol

I got the switch and like 20 games for it and aside from fire emblem I really don’t care for any of them. I’ve wasted so much money on this console and I barely use it. I would have no problem calling BOTW trash if i thought it was trash because it would be an easy excuse for me to bush the entire console.

Only reason I’m holding onto it is for BOTW2 and SMTV

Sometimes yall just gotta accept the fact that we don’t all like the same type of games and thats cool

Links Awakening Remake is a fantastic game. BOTW is fukking boring, as much as y'all shyt on Assassin's Creed and games like it, it has a more diverse gameplay loop than this and it at least has a story, even if it is cheeks.
