LOL because those spurs teams were bums right?
Because Jordan and the rest of 90s players were super saiyans who would roll every team EVER right?
Thats the most annoying thing about Jordan stans. Yes the nikka was good but to think he and the rest of the 90s players were the pinnacle of basketball skill and athleticism is absurd.
Duncan shot 57% in that series, Tony Parker shot 48% and 42% from three, Ginobli shot 50% and 42% from three, Danny Green shot 53% and 45% from three, Kawhi shot 61% and 58% from three, Patty Mills shot 54% and 57% from three, Tiago shot 71%.
Imagine having to face
five guys shooting 42% or better from three and the big men are shooting 60% too.
As a team,
Spurs shot 56% from two and 47% from three on 24 threes/game. Only turned the ball over 13 times/game. And they were elite on defense too.
MJ never faced an offensive onslaught like that. The best offensive team he played in the Finals was the '93 Suns, who shot 47% from two and 44% from three on just 10 threes/game. And they weren't nearly as good as the Spurs on defense, the West/Barkley/Dumas frontcourt was basically a sieve.
1991 Lakers shot 47% from two and 28% from three on 9 threes/game (and turned the ball over 15 times/game)
1992 Blazers shot 47% from two and 19% from three on 9 threes/game (and turned the ball over 17 times/game)
1996 Sonics shot 49% from two and 31% from three on 17 threes/game (and turned the ball over 16 times/game)
1997 Jazz shot 44% from two and 41% from three on 14 threes/game
1998 Jazz shot 48% from two and 22% from three on 10 threes/game (and turned the ball over 16 times/game)
And Kawhi was a better defensive swingman than anyone the Bulls ever faced. Even at 37 Duncan (who would make another All-Defensive team in 2015 at 38yo) was a better defensive center than anyone the Bulls ever faced in the Finals. Pop was a better coach than anyone the Bulls ever faced in the Finals.
The 2014 Spurs were a far better Finals opponent on both ends than anyone Jordan ever saw and it's not even close.
I think that Jordan is the GOAT. But the mythologizing is dumb. Even the GOAT needed fortuitous circumstances in order to win six Finals, and one of those circumstances was that he always had the better coach, the better sidekick, the better defense, and never faced a truly great team.
