:ohhh: this thread just reminded me...

my little brother bought me The Man From Nowhere on dvd for the christmas 2011 and in the February after it a friend of mine got out of jail and was asking to for a loan of a movie..my little brother pops up like Keenon Ivory Wayans in Don't Be A Menace and starts building up Man From Nowhere as if its crazy..i hadn't even watched it but i let him take it... i haven't seen the dvd since and i haven't seen him in about 8 months.

I Saw The Devil is a classic though.

Damn breh, he got you....:heh:

Your little brother might have been in on it....:mjpls:

I Saw The Devil was the better movie. Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one.

The Man From Nowhere is no joke, but it just lacked that extra layer. The protagonist is an anti-hero, but you don't get that sense that he's "become a monster while chasing one" like you do in ISTD. His character is just a little less interesting.

Also give The Chaser a try. Another Korean detective/revenge type movie. Ex-Cop becomes a pimp and has to track down the person that killed his whore. It's also on netflix.

These Korean revenge/detective/film-noir movies have been killing it over the last decade. It's a shame that black folks can't get their shyt together and start a mini film revolution like they have.

Man the chaser had some :russ: parts in it. Dude slapping the ish out of everyone he meet.

I Saw The Devil is a classic, The Man From Nowhere is a good flick but you can see it was following the trend rather than being a part of the movement (Park Chan-Wook, Kim Jee-Woon and Bong Joon-Ho) that started it.

I think so far only Na Hong-jin, who did The Chaser and The Yellow Sea, has been the only one capable of matching that trio's level of quality.

This is more along the lines of I Saw the Devil with less action. The ending was :merchant:
