And why has Gasol declined? He's not old or injured. You have to consider the entire chemistry of the team and you can't discount Kobe gunning and playing hero ball when you criticize Gasol and Bynum for being aloof and disinterested. Not to shift the blame, it's on them. But Kobe certainly isn't helping by dribbling around for 5 seconds, not even looking to pass and forcing up bad shots.
Gasol has fell off...fine. Players have down years. And Bynum has gotten better since 09-10...you can't ignore that. But the fact remains the Lakers still have the core of a two-time champion team and got embarrassed in the 2nd round two years in a row. You have to stretch pretty far to cast blame on everyone EXCEPT the undisputed leader of the team, the guy who calls all the shots, and takes the most shots.
Kobe stans are getting worse than Lebron stans with their excuses. You say Gasol and Bynum suck...okay. But since Kobe is still this elite top 3 or top 5 player supposedly, asked yourself what other elite players have a 2nd and 3rd option better than them? The Heat. Maybe OKC. Who has a better 2nd or 3rd option in the league period? San Antonio...Boston. So like maybe 3 or 4 teams have a better trio in the league, and the lead man in that trio is a top 3 or top 5 player supposedly, but they've gotten demolished in the 2nd round in back-to-back years. He's not playing with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown. Y'all seem to be saying Kobe is still elite top 5, but somehow he can't get past the second round unless he's got some kind of Chris Paul/Dwight Howard dream team roster around him.

And he's about to be 34 and has been nagged by injuries for a while now. You act like he's going to have a 100% clean bill of health in the future. It might happen, but it might not. Why assess him as if he had one anamolous injury when he's been oft-injured for a minute and that seems to be the norm?
So what exactly does Kobe do better than D Wade right now? Shoot 3s. I'll give him that. He has better footwork too, but Wade makes up for it with athleticism. And Wade is clearly a better defender now. And Wade generally doesn't take horrible shots and hawk at the end of games...and he shoots 49%.

As much as this is a bunch of long paragraphs to discount kobe for not being top3-5 whatever, I could write paragraphs just as long to talk about how shytty bynum and gasol played in the playoffs.
And what do you mean dream team? The team that won the 09-10 ship was mainly because of kobe as the first option and gasol(who never won a playoff game before) as the second with a bunch of role players. The fukk kind of dream team is that.

Injuries are part of the game. Every single player gets injured. If TMac was healthy he would be top 3. Stop with the excuses. Kobe for the most part was terrible this year.
