You sound like you gonna do whatever you want so it is what it is. But you might as well go in with a job that's going to benefit you and help you be on target. You take any job and semi-worst case you hate it, super worst case it's a menial job and they reclass you and you find yourself in a Joint Expeditionary Tasking backfilling an Army job. I'm just trying to impart some game on you so you can maximize your time there and come out the best...the military is made to screw you over...it sucks every bit of life out of you and spits you out in the end. It's a pimp and hoe relationship and if you don't play it right, it'll play you.

No I wouldn't do just any job, no reason to. I plan on staying in Construction Field, because that's what I majored in. 4 years of experience and when I get out I could easily find a $80k career.

I'm not going in blind like most folks. I already have a career

People always like "well the chances of that are slim" but the reality is that IT IS A CHANCE and that should be enough to make anyone think long and hard. I know too many people who went in Air Force Services handing out gym towels on base and ended up having to do awful shyt in Iraq. People going in for college so they take an easy job and a year and a half later they on a gun truck protecting a supply convoy in a foreign country.

You tried, he hardheaded as hell and is going to have a bad time:francis:

Homie trying to tell you. Air Force gives you a job based upon what THEY need not because you majored in something. You need to research about 5 or 6 jobs that fits what you trying do and benefits you when you get out.

You said you got 4 yrs experience but that dont mean shyt when you a A1C. You do what you are told. Officers and Seniors NCOs do the thinking. Again homie trying to tell you the large picture of what you are getting yourself into.

If it doesn't work out then I'll just transfer to a University, would only take me 2 years. It'd be trash, but I'll have a good job lined up after graduation :ehh:

The military is like school, you ain't just gonna come out of it in a better position, if you go in the Air Force and do 4 years with an AFSC like Security Forces, you gonna get out in the same exact spot you in today. You need to go in with a plan, figure out what AFSC fits the goals you want to accomplish when you get out and make sure you go in with that AFSC on a guaranteed contract. Once you figure out that AFSC and how it maps to your overall life goal you need to pair it to your civilian options and see which plan helps you get where you want to in the most stable way possible. I do not recommend going into the military especially at the age of 30 until you do that analysis. The military is a young man's game...you gonna be bossed around by a 23 year old who been in the military for 5 years but aint ever paid a bill outside a phone bill...is that a muhfukka you really wanna be bossed around by?

30 year olds are Technical and Master Sergeants...you gonna go in as an Airman First Class and be the old nikka in boot camp, tech school, and when you go operational. I was in Signals Intelligence...1N4...think it through cuz once you in, YOU ARE IN!

EDIT: I was the old nikka in boot camp and I was 23!
What u recommend he should do career wise?

I can technically take any job, it really wouldn't matter as long as I come out with my Bachelor's degree in Construction Management. I'm not like the veterans who be working fast food, I'm in a way different position. Worse case scenario I come out with a savings and gi bill to pay the rest of my way through school. I could still find a Project Manager or Superintendent job.

The only reason I brought up the military is to finish school, everything else is just a bonus.
Why not just go to Uni if you think you’ll get a job pretty easy with your bachelors? Just try not to take out too many loans and find a cheaper school.

It sounds like a waste of time to go to the Air Force when you can get a degree in 2 years.

The military is a great place if you are struggling to grow up IMO.

My whole family is military, mom and pops was too, including my bro. I chose a different path, and I think the biggest difference is I'm far more immature, not self-aware, and less disciplined than all of them.

I think it's a great way to middle class, structure, and forcing you out into the world on random assignments where you have to constantly change and learn who you are.

If you need a job that provides steady income, insurance and housing ASAP, sure, do it. But realize the Air Force is in a tough spot right now. Lotta nikkas stayed in during Covid and career fields are over manned. If you want a good job, youlll probably have to wait a year plus for delayed entry program. Same for the Officer route too. Even if you could finish your degree in two years and you were intent on serving as a Officer, good luck. OTS is as competitive as its ever been, backlogged to hell AND alot of officer careers are overmanned too.

Now thats speaking for active duty.

Now lets say hypothetically, youre not desperate for a check or housing...You just want better civilian life. You see a clear road where the benefits acquired through the military (certs, training or a clearance) lead to a better civilian life. For example, your uncle is a highly paid govt contractor who leverages his clearance he got in the military and his job is always hiring.....If that be the case, try to join the Guard or Reserves. That way you can pick your job, youre only serving part time and you can reap the benefits and transfer them directly to civilian world. Im living proof as a Cyber Officer in the Guard.... that shyt paved a road to me making 6 figures overnight because I knew exactly the benefits id gain out of it and where i could apply these skills/clearance.

Please listen to @Deuterion

That "ill take any job its only 4 years and ill be getting paiddddd :win:" attitude is what causes people to despise their initial enlistment....so much so that some take take permanent solutions to temporary conditions (i..e substance abuse, trying to get kicked out, suicide, etc).

Realize your job pick is the most important decision youll make when enlisting. Do not take it lightly.
