Yeah and thats why Chapelle went crazy...when he saw from ths consumer's POV what his show was all about and what the exec's were in fact paying him for...it was too much...I got alot of respect for Chapelle for saying fukk it...b

I can look back now and see things different myself. Show was funny as fukk but I can look back and be like damn, white people shouldn't have been liking some of that shyt so much. :ohhh:

The ways in which we define our culture should not be determined by the ignorant.

We don't read Shakespeare and make judgements about it based on the opinions of Larry The Cable Guy.

If your argument only makes sense if we defer to the lowest common denominator point of view of morons then it must follow that your argument is moronic.

Just because fools couldn't see much of the subtext, social commentary and satire it doesn't mean we pretend it's not there. By doing so you're inadvertently undermining the extent to which black people are allowed to express themselves intelligently.

Chappelle did not believe his show to be c00nish. He did not have a problem with the content. He was simply afraid that it would eventually grow out of his control, which given the amount of money on the table was a reasonable concern.

Well said, sir. The problem with shows like Chappelle's or even Chris Rock's "Black People vs. nikkas" bit is not with the content itself, but rather with how the audience interprets it. Those of us with common sense with know that they are simply trying to bring levity to a real and serious social issue, but the lowest common denominators among society (dumb fukks) interpret them not as satire, but as reality. It's the same problem the audience will have in interpreting a movie like Borat. Sure the anti-semitism was portrayed in an amusing light, but the American crowds (at the bull fighting event) were ignorant to the fact that it was all a parody and were displaying their actual feelings on the subject.

Dude , I don't care who you know. Dave HIMSELF has admitted to it being deeper than what your trying to make it. From his own mouth.

Thank you, hustle you my nikka and all but I don't need to know that you know Dave's co writer or spoke to him. Dave's admission trumps whatever he had to say.

I wish one day we would stop acting like we are a monolithic group instead of individuals. I know people don't agree but it always feels on here and offline that black people always on this "c00ning" vibe wanted to be accepted by whites and other groups. Just seriously look at it from a non bias pov and tell me it doesn't at least look that way to you. When you know you aren't "c00ning" or any of this other stuff why the need to get so upset? This stuff doesn't nor should it represent every black. I just take as entertainment like everything else not everytime somebody black is being funny and white people laugh its "c00ning" Hell going by that we shouldn't probably do comedy then if white people laugh now its c00ning they have alot of blacks mentally done in I tell you. Break free my brothers lol.

Ion know, i always saw it as him stylin on white people, i mean yeah he made fun of black stereotypes but he went mercilessly harder on whitestereo types, like in that Clayton Bigsby skit when he said "Wait a minute ******, if anybody's gonna have sex wit my sister its gone be me!". He joked about black things but he always made white people look like str8 fools

Exactly. For example this year i've seen 3 cac pages on fb post Cosbys rant from '04 on sum see see even cosby says they're like that :troll:
Which doesnt speak to bigger issues, context and nuance is completely lost. And much like statistics folks find a way to convert it to fit their own views for good/bad positive or negative.
My verdict the show along with Boondocks are the 2 best black shows this millenium and its sad folks dont even get em fully :yeshrug:

The thing that is most fascinating about this thread is that posters get more offended if something is said about Chappelle than they do President Obama. Very telling about about the demographics here. :ohhh:

nikkas be like fukk Obama and people be co-signing the shyt out of them. I can't imagine if I said fukk Dave Chappelle, one of you nikkas might have caught a stroke and smashed ya monitor.

you're really fascinated that a president is more likely to garner more criticism than a comedian?

if you see this thread as a personal defense of dave chappelle... :shaq2:

I grew up in the deep south and have busted white boys in their fukking face for saying some slick shyt to me. You mad because I pointed out the obvious about the Chappelle show? And I control my own perception by being a college graduate, having a good job, and everything else I do so I could give a fukk. The show is what it is and I didn't protest it or encourage anyone to stop watching it but it doesn't matter who was watching it, white black, PR's Mexicans etc, the show had some bad stereotypes in there that were sometimes cringe worthy. Stop trying to act like I wanted to start a revolt and picket Comedy Central for the shyt because it isn't that serious. And I think you're either white or the type of nikka who only fukks with white girls because of how angry you came in this thread. Ol why do you care if something puts blacks in a bad light. Geez, I don't know maybe because I'm black and it is a point of discussion in our community. You'd be the type to clown someone for getting mad if they got called the n word and not be mad that the person called them a ******. fukked up breh.

Don't worry bro...you got this co sign from me :salute:

If you notice the ppl who are saying its isn't c00ning are black and saying they don't care how ppl view blk ppl so who care basically :what:

and the other ppl who are like ...YO DUDE YOU MISSED THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW.......... we know what they look like :ld:

:youngsabo:

Ppl think just because something is funny ..it isn't c00ning....were all the Chappelle skits on some c00n shyt?? NO...but their was quite a few that were.........now if you (BLACK PPL) want to ignore that because it was funny........................ YOUR LOST

edit: and for you dumb fuccs...why do you think Chappelle went to AFRICA??...you think he's going to call himself a c00n????...............He clearly stopped a very successful show for a reason.........now if you can't put 2 and 2 together to figure it out its......... A your likely a CAC so you clearly have no knowledge of a black mans thought process or B your a black person who is LOST....ppl really talking about they don't care how ppl view black ppl......mayb your uneducated ass don't care.......but their are plenty of black ppl who care and rightfully so ..for our ancestors AND they want black ppl to be respected in the world....and the way the world is and how racist some CACs are.........shows like Chappelle show don't help the cause

With comedy and silliness, I've always felt like it's only c00nery when black men do it.

You can have countless white comedians who act like fools (Carrey/Williams/Ferrel), and that's just their schtick.

But a black comedian doing that is always interpreted as selling out the dignity of our entire race to the white man who will always take it as a real example of how all of us are in real life.
