It was one of the biggest displays of c00nery in recent T.V. history. Yeah it was funny but it doesn't take away from that fact. I think it is time we all come to grips with this. That is all.

I disagree, I feel like chapelle pushed the envelope with what white people where comfterble with on that show. I mean he had Paul mooney on they saying some of the most anti white shyt I ever seen on TV.

I think it was a true representation of his sense of Humor and when they tried to c00nify him, he shut it down. He was a blackman with his own show who had a MAJOR hand in the writin and creative process and he turned down millions when he thought they were forcing a shuck n jive. Nothing c00nify about that IMO

had nothing to do with money.. he felt he reached his pinnacle..

its really that simple..

people reading into something, and it aint that serious.. hes a comedian.. people are gonna repeat his jokes.. have been for years..
No its not that simple. I'm telling you people who came up with Dave were saying this including Paul Mooney and the money played a major factor. It scared the shyt out of Dave. If you look at Season 2 you can tell they had a few extra writers and almost all of those skits were race driven and the humor was just different. They were already in the process of trying to put people around him to take the show over. Accepting the money would pretty much assure that so he said fukk it. He even said he was stressed and pissed most of season 2 and accepting that money would pretty leave him powerless and owned. Watch that Inside The Actor's studio @ the 48:00 minute mark. He pretty much admits it.

alot of the content from season 2, was leftover skits from the first season.. i know Neal.. i know alot people who worked for the show..

he(Chappele) felt he reached his pinnacle, and the money wasnt his driving force.. never was.. he was under alot of stress, to create new/better content.. that, plus the fame was sudden and driving him crazy.. thats why he went to Africa.. to get away..

no one else was coming in, to do anything.. unless you're talking about Prince Paul- the same people were all there..

but, ill let you tell it, tho.. :beli:

He mentioned in the Oprah interview that he felt like he may be disappointing black people by the message he was putting out. So I think that had something to do with it as well.

I'm not telling nothing. I'm just repeating what other comedians have said including Dave himself in that interview. All I'm saying is there were a few factors to why he left the majority of it being the money and everyoneof them confirmed by Dave himself. You made it seemed like he walked away simply bc he couldn't think of anymore funny skits and he reached his pinnacle. I'm not saying that wasn't one of the factors I'm just saying it wasn't the only one. You pretty much agreeing with me.

the money wasnt his driving force.. never was.. so, it couldnt be a "factor".. no matter how much they threw at him, he wasnt biting.. he wanted to go out on top.. i dont know why thats so hard for anyone to believe.. people do it all the time..

but, i guess you wanna believe whatever you wanna believe..

Dude , I don't care who you know. Dave HIMSELF has admitted to it being deeper than what your trying to make it. From his own mouth.

racial humor can be and was, in chappelle's case, funny as shyt. the problem is that people start to look at it like reality, like in an all white high school with kids yellin "HOWDY nikkaR". as long as everyone realizes that its meant to provide a grave situation with levity, and not an accurate depiction of racial identity or existence, it's no problem. unfortunately, people in our present state can't handle that en masse, which has been pointed out as the reason for him (rightly) canceling the show.

so i don't agree that it was "c00nery". it was funny and irreverent and for a very brief time was able to exist in a place of clarity, until it went global, which is always what ruins purity anyway.

Yeah and thats why Chapelle went crazy...when he saw from ths consumer's POV what his show was all about and what the exec's were in fact paying him for...it was too much...I got alot of respect for Chapelle for saying fukk it...b
