I think it's time that we admit the truth about the Chappelle Show

The episode when DC played the blind white supremacist made me feel uncomfortable and the "nygger" family made me uncomfortable too

I hated the ****** Family sketch,

And remember when the KKK sketch drop, nikkas was running around shouting "White Power!" All the time.

I was in middle school during the shows big run, I could tell the white boys started enjoying some of the jokes a little more than normal. shyt open the flood gates of innocent racism.

They'd be like

" Just joking brah, I saw it on the Chapelle show lastnight"

In all seriousness. Just because someone misinterprets your show doesnt make it c00ning. If a cop says i look suspicious doesnt mean i do. If i speak perfect english and i walk in a room and a cac laughs at me, that doesnt mean i said anything wrong.

You giving cacs way to much power here, when it comes to black issues there almost completely oblivious to it. So it shouldnt even surprise you that they didnt get it...just because a cac laughed at the skits and didnt see the point dave was making, doesnt make it c00ning. All it means is that a cac didnt interpret the skit the way it was intended

It wasn't intentional but the truth remains it turned into that. He was making fun of blacks for the entertainment of whites which is the definition of c00nery on a show. I never said he made it with that in mind but it is what it is. Ya'll can write all the essays you want because the shyt was hilarious but the point remains. And one of the worst threads you seen on here nikka? And if you don't notice I'm not the only on in here who thinks some of the shyt wasn't cool and I don't give a muthafukk so I made this thread knowing how many posters would get butt hurt because Dave isn't open to ridicule like many other black entertainers. I seen nikkas calling Steve Harvey and Tyler Perry c00ns with no outrage at all. You know why? Because they aren't as entertaining and they are cool to shyt on. I think Dave is a comedic genius but the dikk riding for dude in this thread is on some epic shyt.

he wasnt making fun of blacks. thats the part your missing. first and foremost he made fun of everyone. but with a purpose.

Well I fukked with the show too and think Chappelle is a comedic genius. I'm not afraid to admit the same thing Dave himself will admit to and when he realized this he shut the shyt down. I went to a majority white college during the time Chappelle had just started airing and I remember being the only black dude in class hearing people laugh about some of the skits like "things black people like" and the "slavery reparations" skits. shyt was mad uncomfortable.

It's funny though because these same people so outraged in here would call Tyler Perry a c00n in a second and say he makes us look bad. Why is that though? You may not like the urban/black based topics but Tyler Perry has had successful black people in plenty of his movies. Just an observation though.

Dave wasn't the first black comedian to use satire to tackle racial issues
( Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock ect.)

But his show was extremely effective at it at first...But like anything that gets consumed in mass by the mainstream the message started to get misunderstood and misused.

I commend him for not being a SLAVE to money and keeping the show going, when it was clear that the intent of his jokes were being lost or misused by the masses.

Dave is the LAST entertainer that should be called a c00n.

the first season was all dave. like rick james and all that. however once he got that mega deal, comedy central decided to include some writers (which of course were to be approved by dave) but then the shyt they were coming up with were just getting out of line and weren't in bound with his creative direction of what he wanted the show to be, so he just said fukk allyall im out.

watch season 1 and notice the difference between that and the lost episodes. the lost episodes are almost ALL RACIAL, while the first was was versatile and light hearted. in fact even the racial shyt had more hiphop hints than actual 'black'. they said the episode that broke him, was the pixil ep. you can even see his body language change from season 1 to 3 when he would present the skits.
