Just thought I'd give me opinion. Never thought so many people would get this emotional about it.

Thats true but don't you have to be weak minded for that approach to work?Carter G Woodson said if you can control a mans mind, you don't have to tell him to go through the back of the door, he'll go on his own accord. I knew that was why he quit the show, I was in the car with my brother, and he said my father had the same theory. All of my brothers, and sisters loved it, but I could never bring myself to watch it.
So let me get this str8. It's all good if only black people watch it but once a white audience got hold of it it's str8 c00ning. Mane you nikkas somethin else I tell you. I'm out this thread out of pure disgust of the ignorance being perpetuated in here.
to the gawd satirical comedian Dave Chappelle.
That's easy; you'd turn an institution, as Hollywood (that's supposed to be the "land of promise/dreams" or whatever), on it's head if ppl were able to believe a normally functioning person turned down $50 million.
I do know what context you posted this in, but, I agree.
That's why I don't like the way "c00n/c00nery" is used on SOHH/the-coli.
Here (and there) it means; exuberant black person.
Yes, Dave tackled a lot of racial issues with satire, but, I don't understand how that made him less of a man.
I really have no position on this (the Dave leavin' CC thing) as most ppl.
wtf is you talking about breh, he said it himself. He was doing a skit about black people and the only person who was laughing was the white dude and he buddies. After that he felt like he was c00ning, the material he was doing wasnt even his, he said that skit was made by some white guy.
is Chapelle a c00n cause he didnt marry a black woman?![]()
Its the same knock Chris Rock gets for that "black folks vs nikkas" shyt....first of all he wuz doin that for a black audience who knew what the hell he wuz talkin about,he's not even sayin "******s" which white racist cacs have taken time to spin it into....had he made it for white people it would be c00nin but he didn't.....gotta salute chapell for realizing how many white folks wuz catchin on and how sum of hi shyt would now appear as c00nery based off how succesful and mainstream the show became.....can't hate on dude at all for turnin all that bread down.
The Chappelle show was FARRRRR from c00nery. It was comedic-Satire

He did a brilliant job at educating people who didn't give a f*ck about education by playing into the negative sh*t that they did care about. Chris Rock tells a lot of socially aware jokes too, but wasn't as successful with a younger audience as Dave was because of the way he approached it. Dave went "crazy" because he was reaching a wide audience and slowly, but surely forcing them to ask questions they wouldn't normally ask. Like the famous saying goes: it's not the people inside the church who needs saving. If he would have been doing the things he was doing without actually dropping jewels THEN it would have been c00nery, but there was clearly a method to his madness. Dave is FARRRR from crazy; he knew exactly what he was doing, but when the powers that be caught on to what he was doing that's when sh*t got "crazy", You don't get offered 50mil without having some very powerful people interested in you. If you watch some of his interviews post-Chappelle show when he talks about "crossing an economic threshold" and things of that nature you can read between the lines.
Inside The Actors Studio - Dave Chappelle - YouTube
:notsure: Wondered how this question was going to fly, according to Coli logic. Same with. Seems like certain black celebs receive selective immunity from the same criticism given to others b/c they're more respected.
Anyway, this isn't a terrible thread (IMO) for the simple fact that it opened up a decent discussion about Dave Chappelle. You'll always get some ridiculous opinions, but I saw plenty of good ones and that "Inside The Actor's Studio" was a good watch.
Makes me want to go back and watch a lot of the skits with a different mindset so yeah, no negative opinion here.
Yeah nikkaz saying I'm wrong for saying it but Dave said it himself. Is he wrong too about his own show?![]()
