Plus Jay styled on him in Watch the Throne when everything mattered

Yea, kanye didnt have one verse better then the verse Jay z spit on "Why I Love You"

Plus he doesnt even write his lyrics so i dont see why anyone would put him over Jay z from a lyrical standpoint. How can you come form the heart when your reciting words from someone elses mind. O and he doesnt even produce his own beats. His beats dont even come from his own mind and when they do they sound nothing like the overproduced trash that has become his signature sound in 2012.

Lol. People are arguing if Kanye is a better ARTIST than Jay... Lmao. This shouldn't be an argument. That pretty much goes without saying.

Kanye is more than a rapper. He shouldn't be compared to rappers, he's bigger than hip hop.

I disagree with this. It's disrespecting the art form of emceeing.

Jay-Z being 10 times the emcee Kanye is should give him major "artistic" points. Kanye is more than a rapper, yes, but he's not a very good rapper, so what?

So because Kanye is an average emcee at best but makes beats that means he's above great emcees that don't make beats? So Kanye is above Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Rakim? Nah.

One of THE most annoying things about people who stan rappers who aren't very good at actually rapping (Wiz Khalifa, Kanye, Rick Ross, etc) is the stupid ass "He's a better artist than _____" though. Supreme flow, lyricism and substance is one of the most beautiful and difficult arts to express consistently in music. Stop dumbing down the tremendous skill and thought it requires just to big up your favorite artist.

Lol, I'm not even going to argue with you on this.. I'll just say, have you been to Jay-Z concert, actually have you been to a hip hop concert before Kanye was involved. It you can't see the difference in live shows between the time Kanye got involved with hip hop, then I don't know what to say

By no means, am I saying that Kanye is the better rapper.

What ARTISTIC chances has Jay taken that weren't already done?

Kanye has produced all of his albums and is involved in everything down to the cover art...

I'm not implying that not being hip hop is better, but when you look at the things that Kanye cares about regarding his project and brand as opposed to other rappers, you can see a major difference. It's not just about getting in the studio and "spitting some hot shyt".... Kanye's view is bigger

How does one gauge skill by chance taken ?
How the hell can that make you a better artist ?
Does that mean all the sh1t "chance taking" artists in the underground
are now more "artistic" than Kanye ?
I'm all for dudes being different going the avante garde route,if you can even call cliche ridden the "I'm a Rapper Rockstar rhetoric" Kanye has been spitting lately "avante garde" or different from his peers :yeshrug: but that shouldn't be the only stick we measure by to define whose a better or more skilled artist.
See "Cruel Summer","Watch The Throne" and "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" along with his features in particular his recent
feature on 2Chainz "Birthday" song.

I just want to specify I thoroughly enjoyed all three of these albums, Watch The Throne in particular.
I'm just showing Kanye is more similar to his peers than others would readily admit for fear of it bringing down
his stature as an artist.

Producing albums, making beats or picking cover art doesn't inherently make someone a better artist.
It's the overall product and there is no way you can sit here and tell me Jay-Z doesn't have the projects (Blueprint,Black Album, Reasonable, American Gangster) or the lyrical skill :

To easily keep up with Kanye.
Not to mention dude is very hands on with his projects also.
He chooses covers, producers, topics, videos etc.

This is what leads me to :
:scusthov:
and
:laff:

At dudes tryna play Jay-Z like he isn't a better rapper and easily an artist of Kanye's caliber.
:smh:

I think your missing the point of what I'm saying.....

Yes Jay-z is the better rapper, clearly.... But what else does he have on Ye... When it comes to being ARTISTIC Kanye clearly has Jay beat in categories that Jay couldn't go into... It's not just that Kanye makes beats, I keep saying it's bigger than that... Kanye changed the way that rappers do live shows.. What is so artistic about getting on stage with a DJ and a mic and waking around... Kanye brought out all the extras from live orchestra's to fukking insane lighting.. Look at how involved Kanye has been with his cover art.. Actually put any Jay cover art up against Ye's and it's not even close... I can't believe I have to explain this to people.... There is so much more I could say, but it would be tiresome... We could go to Kanye's cohesive albums all the way to his videos

At the end of the day Kanye is the definition of an Artist....

BTW Kanye's live shows shyt on Jay's
