I used to know a hardcore drunk who lived down the street from me as a kid. MD 20/20, never saw him without a couple bottles in the car. He had cut a hole in the driver side floor where he could dump the bottle out while driving in case a cop was about to bust him.

In 2022 you shouldn't be driving a car built in the 20th century. A classic car is usually defined as a a vehicle that is 25 years or older. So if you driving a 97 camry, you might as well be driving 55 chevy. thats a restoration , a carshow showpiece, not an everyday driver.

shyt i consider a car old af if it's from the decade before last decade. 00 to 09.

How many cars from 97 still on the road? Exactly. Its a good secondary car, but not smart for your primary whip.

That shyt is wild risky.

I understand owning one for nostalgia and whatnot but todays cars are built different and in a good way.

This right here is an American perception, not necessarily reality. Those cubans and island folk keep their 20+ year old cars on the road no problem, in worse road conditions. Saw it first hand in Aruba. We are just taught to have new cars because of consumerism and because most of us don't know how to manually diagnose and take care of our cars.

Yeah, this isn't true but I'd say 90% of people think this.

In reality you can make it well into 2030 or later with a 97 camry assuming that it doesn't have any known issues with it's manufacturing that will put it out of commission.

Assuming your are also a licensed mechanic or have plenty money to maintain it and don't mind spending so much on it to point where you could've just bought a new car instead. then yeah i see what you're saying.

It’s Bluetooth, no cord needed :youngsabo:

Had that in my Matrix, but shyt came out a little static-ky, but still manageable.

Have a 2011 civic now and i added a $300 touchscreen in it. Bluetooth/navigation and all that jazz. Completely eliminates the need for an eventual upgrade unless the car really dies

I don’t mean to be rude so pardon me if it comes off that way but what type of bullshyt is this? This is America not Aruba. If I ain’t had shyt to do all day and this was Aruba or Cuba then yeah, I would fix a car up xyz and all that shot but that isn’t reality dog. Quit the Mary quite contrary argument. The overwhelming majority of Americans don’t have a thousand dollars in their savings and we are talking about manually diagnosing cars when we need to work to get by.

Yeah that kicker is that you want to know atleast enough about cars to diagnose it when needed, but in a good old car you aren't spending new car money in repairs every year, your just doing oil changes and replacing the battery every 3-4 years.

Even if you did drop 600-700 dollars in repairs a year that would still be less than buying a new car from the last 3 years.

I'm not saying don't get a new car for flossin purposes. I'm bout to cop a Porsche my damn self.

I'm just saying the nikkas saying that you shouldn't be driving a car older than 09 are wrong and don't realize they are falling for American consumerism.
