Anything after was bound to be worse, and we saw ever so slight declines from DC to Predator to Lethal Injection (the g-funk route). Then he took a small break, did the Westside Connect album (great) but it would be a while since he released a solo. He came back with that Don Mega phase which marked the beginning of the end of prime Cube. Doesn't mean the material wasn't banging tho. Most artist would cry for a discog of Cube post 1998 tbh. It was really good. Just not exceptional like his early stuff.

I agree with you. Nas set the bar real high for himself with Illmatic too. IWW is a classic album imo but it wasn't anywhere near Illmatic.

I actually agree with you regarding the first decade of his Cube's work. You just lose me with the bolded. I don't know anyone that looks at Cube's latter career stuff so glowingly.

None of those Nas albums I mentioned are "meh" and had receptions that states so. Stillmatic, Untitled, Lost Tapes, Life Is Good, Distant Relatives...ALL had better receptions than any Cube album post 1993. These are facts. Not anything I'm pulling out my ass.

And I already stated that Cube first 3 albums were unbelievable. Everything else after has been unspectacular. He hasn't been consistent and you even say so so I don't see what the dispute is. I'm gonna keep it real simple...Nas still dropping dope sh!t, Cube...not so much.

But this is what might be the case, and I'm not too proud to hide from this. I might be defending Cube too strongly to the point where maybe his weak albums are as weak as people suggest. But I also feel you might be defending Nas to the point where you give too much credit to his unspectacular material. The lines are real fine when it comes to injecting one's personal bias into the convo.

Nas is more active of course he's still dropping more dope stuff atm. Nas' last album was very good and Cube's wasn't, but Cube has taken ages between each release now. He's busy doing his thing.

Anyway if you wanna argue Nas is more consistent, sure. But that's only because Nas has been on an unspectacular trail much of his career, whereas Cube has more spectacular works, so his peak was higher and anything else was destined to be a more substantial drop off than it is for Nas.

Anyway, we'll resume when I return. But I think our stances are clear tbh. Respect nonetheless.

People find it hard to accept differences, that's all.

Myself included. We want our favourite rappers to keep releasing their same prime material in content, but that's not always gonna be the case. And Cube himself is a case of someone being in and out of the rap game post-2000, but still released really dope content. It was more contemporary gangsta stuff in the case of Laugh Now and then a nice return to conscious Cube with Raw Footage. Did it live up to his earlier stuff? Hell nah. But it was still really good albums that any artist would be proud to own in their discographies.

Like if an artist released albums of that calibre all his life, we'd say he has a very solid discography. So factor that in to all the legendary shyt Cube has, that makes his discography really great.

Illmatic and Death Certificate are very close together on my GOAT list (7 and 9) so I couldn't be mad at DC above Illmatic. AmeriKKKa is top 20 for me so I wouldn't mind

Y'all talking spectacular albums? Cube has 3/4 (first 3/4 maybe WSC too) and Nas has about 3 (Illmatic, It Was Written, The Lost Tapes). Stillmatic has some very spectacular songs but some bullshyt songs

Cube's albums after 1993? I loved Westside Connection's Bow Down and I thought Laugh Now, Cry Later and Raw Footage were good but I don't like them as much as @Inspect Her Deck does

Overall I guess Cube's discography after 1993 is okay
