:heh: Breh, The Love Below is not a rap album and calling it a Hip Hop album is a stretch. Dre has zero solo rap albums and that's the MAJOR reason I don't believe he deserves to be in a Top 10 GOAT MC list. Why should he be on there over MCs that have continually proven they can craft great solo rap albums?

Breh, I never called it a rap album, I said it was a hip hop album.

Believe it or not, there's a different.

Just like there's a lot of rap being made today that I wouldn't personally consider hip hop.

Weren't you overposting in the last thread on this topic?

Overposting? Stop it.

I CLEARLY put in my post that even calling The Love Below a Hip Hip album is a stretch. Dre has one solo and it's not a Hip Hop or Rap album so he shouldn't be on any GOAT MC list full of MCs who have proven time and time again that they can generate dope solo projects. Why he deserves to be on the list more than Prodigy when P has just as much classic verses and also has actually made dope solo albums?

Lol that's a very extreme example.

Hip Hop is not just rap, breh.

It's the sound, it's the drums, it's the song writing, it's the attitude, the feeling.

Lauryn Hill's album is considered hip hop and she's singing on 60% of the album.

808's and Heartbreaks is also a hip hop album with more singing (?) than rapping on it.

As far as She Lives in my Lap, that song is more hip hop than 90% of the shyt being made today.
I get where you are coming from...it's one approach to take to this subject. Basically, most anything by a rapper is going to be a "hip hop" album. I disagree. I don't consider Lauryn's album or 808s to be "rap". I think they are experimental or crossover albums made by rappers :yeshrug:

And let's not forget that he's not even rapping on the album. At least Lauryn raps on Miseducation.

He's got a couple verses. Happy Valentine's Day, Roses, The Life Of Benjamin Andre. There could be more...I haven't listened to this album in a few years. I didn't fukk with it at all in 2003. Outside of those 3 tracks I think. when i peeped it again a few years back...I was pleasantly surprised. :wow:
It's not a rap album though. :yeshrug:

Yeah I feel you, it's not a rap album.

I'm not saying TLB should be used as an argument for Andre in this particular discussion.

It just irked me that breh said it was a poor attempt at a solo album.

It's one of my favorite albums.

He raps more on that album than a lot of people remember, but we can all agree that it's not a rap album.

I'm of the opinion that being in a group should have no bearing on your ability to be considered on lists like this.

And I absolutely believe Prodigy should be considered. If you talked to me around '95/'96 I would've told you Prodigy is the best rapper on the planet, no question.

Normally I would agree with you. I consider him one of the best to ever do it regardless of whether he made a solo or not. But when you are trying to limit all of hip hop to ten rappers...you gotta start nit picking :yeshrug:
