He mad.

Football is simply those most enjoyable sport to watch. Every single play matters, because there's a definite beginning, middle and end, and even if there's not a score, there's a GOAL, a mark that must be reached: 10 yards. So, you're always building toward something until you reach the ultimate goal and it happens just infrequently enough elicit joy, whereas in basketball, you got bammas scoring every 30 seconds or so on average. That's why a lotta people say they only watch the last 5 minutes of NBA games. It's also why some people cannot watch baseball or soccer or hockey, because the scoring is too infrequent and most people don't care about the nuances of those games.
casual fans hate 6-9 football games and will call it sloppy even if defenses are playing well.
a casual fan loves a 42-39 game tho.

so the 'ultimate goal', which can also apply to soccer or hockey, is not quite true for casual fans.
people on here always call a low-scoring game 'terrible'. no wonder, its probably terrible for fantasy because all the offensive players probably arent doing much
not terribly great for gambling since there are not many times scoring changes.

shyt a 6-9 football game or a blowout are great litmus tesst as to whether anyone loves the game or pretending to be
die hard fans like myself love 6-9 games and can tolerate blowouts just because we got love for the game. not so much for casual fans

the NFL isn't going anywhere. ffs ESPN airs YEAR ROUND live NFL coverage every damn day. for drunk/stupid/middle America football is the only sport that exists because it is by nature violent, slow-paced, and easy to understand

Cuban is ONLY saying this because the NFL owners locked him out of their fraternity and he's salty.

I don't think you CAN "oversaturate" people with football, there's no such thing.

its ratings for it are some of its highest ever for the sport
whats really gonna happen in these next 10 years to kill it off?

FOX said its regular-season schedule delivered its most NFL viewers since the network began broadcasting NFL games in 1994.

ESPN said its 17 Monday Night Football telecasts averaged 13,679,000 viewers. It was the third-most viewed season in ESPN’s eight years of presenting MNF. The network had six of cable’s 10 biggest audiences for the calendar year among viewers

Sunday Night Football averaged 21.7 million viewers (up from 21.4 million in 2012) for its 19 NFL regular-season telecasts, the second-best viewership mark in NBC’s eight seasons of broadcasting the NFL’s Sunday primetime package.

The 13-game schedule produced the most-watched season for Thursday Night Football, with an average of 8.0 million viewers. That was up 10% from the 2012 season average.

i cant believe so many people in here agree with Cuban :mjlol:

if he owned a nfl team i guarantee you he wouldnt be saying any of this

the nfl aint going nowhere

who gonna take the crown from the nfl? the nba? :mjlol: mlb? :laff:
^^^^^^^BINGO.

Let’s be real here….the ONLY thing that could derail the NFL is this continued push towards the pussification of the league.

Other than that, the NFL is teflon and has been for over twenty years now.

Cuban is just mad that he’s not part of the circle that’s GETTING that money. As has been stated before, if son was a majority NFL owner he wouldn’t be saying shyt.

you know Im one of the biggest NFL fans on here, period.
thursday night games are part of the reason, they are not the whole reason. a straw doesnt break a camels back, million of straws underneath it do.

Problem is there is no real competition for the NFL.

No league is close to the popularity so there is nothing running adjacent to it for the NFL fan to move to.

Exactly

Things like declining participation in youth football because of health concerns and the shift from people consuming media through traditional televisions could be factors. 10 years might be to quick of an date.

but it doesnt have to move to something else
just have a dwindling interest, like Ive said late 90s football was still king but since internet wasnt yet helping the league the interest wasnt as high

nfl hype is at all time high, both popularity and media coverage

your average housewife knows who the fukk tim tebow is and what team he used to play for.

that shyt is everywhere. pretty much everyone follows pro football. it has nowhere to go but down.

Agreed, but an implosion is just wishful thinking from Cuban here.

At worst the popularity will wane a bit, but in reality, I could barely even see it doing that. The only people it's losing popularity with is the die hard fans, and those will never leave. Me and you aint leaving anytime soon.

The league is being designed to be more catchy to the casual fans, and it's working.

People really pray for the downfall of the league, at the very worst it`ll be slightly less popular than it is now.

This is a forum full of NBA fans who have an inferiority complex, what do you expect?

That's such a myth.

When you look at every TNF game, most of them were pretty good, competitive games.

People throw this shyt out there all the time, the reality is the teams who played on TNF were usually not great teams, so people just weren't interested.
Hey im as big a fan of football as the next person but, I dont know what games you were watching cause the games were very lacking.....and the reason is the short week football imo is just to physical to expect a team to be up to compete again on a short week that shyts hard, this ain't the nba these dudes need there rest breh.....quality over quantity.

I posted a while back the actual outcomes of the TNF games, they were for the majority good games with bad teams playing in them.
