“I thought Drake would be here only 3-4 Years…He did some Michael Jackson sh*t. If I wanted to leave rap it would be in good hands” - Snoop Dogg

Drake being around long was a result of timing. If he came out in an era of more competitive skill based rappers he would have ran his course by now. Dudes are winning by default because of how bad the competition is that is visible on a mainstream level.
This is false and just pure hating. Drake would be a star in any era. Just say you don’t like his music. :russ: Y’all need to stop acting like every rapper from the 90s and 2000s was dope. There was plenty of mid and bad artist with respectable careers.

I actually do like his music and him. I'm just objective.

You have Malcolm x in your avatar but using terms like niglet? Make it make sense. :mjpls:
True, niglet is vulgar, my fault. I’ll edit it and change it to “nikka”. 🫡 for the heads up, pause.

No the fukk he wouldn't bro,

Best case scenario in the 90s he would've caught a lucky break and got an album off, sell some records and be promptly played out within 24 months a la Arrested Development

Worst case scenario, he would be like Bud Bundy or Brian Austin Green, them white boys dropped records too :heh:

This is super false, 😆. Drake would not have made it in hip hop in the 90s, early or late. He might not have even made it in the early 2000s. Drake, and all these other dudes like him, all came in the door that Kanye West kicked down. Kanye made it alright for soft corny nigs to flourish in hip hop, I’m not even saying it disrespectfully either lol, that’s what he did

This is false. Will Smith was an actor with ghost writers that made music that had ni profanity. Big Willie Style is one of the biggest albums of the 90's. He had another album that was double platinum in 1999. Nelly and Ja Rule were huge in the '00's and they made similar music to Drake.

:what:

It's the other way round Patna. :skip:

And it doesn't take a away from snoop he is a great performer and he pivoted to being that more than anything. He has been very open about employing people to write for him for whole projects.

Rick Ross himself has Said Drake is one of the few people he worked with that can write to a verse for a specific song same day in studio. Snoop stopped writing a long long time ago. He had a whole era where he was freestyling the same verses over and over again that's why he started hiring people like Problem
Sorry Patna but if you know the culture of the music you know having ghostwriters is a NO-NO. Now that being said please provide a link to Snoop admitting he has all these ghostwriters.

Edit: I see where he let Cordae and Problem write for him. His excuse was he didn’t see anything wrong with it because he used to write for Dr. Dre and Warren G. Snoop cannot be considered among the elite lyricists if that’s the case.

Will Smith
Nelly
Ja Rule

Were not suburban white Canadian child sitcom stars who probably never even been in a cypher besides on set then got into hip hop sir. Drake is way more PM Dawn than any three of those gentlemen. Milly Vanilli type shyt. The 90s was about authenticity/credibility, for better or for worse…KRS-1 woulda chokeslammed Drake off of a stage.

Plus he benefits from the fact that rap is stagnant as shyt

In the 90s the entire sound changed every 2-3 years
Drake's sound and production from 2009 to now is wildly different. He has changed hisnsound multiple times. Arguably more than anyone has successfully. He's the ultimate trendhopper

There’s always an excuse for why successful people wouldn’t succeed at some other time, or how they’re lucky. You don’t succeed at the level Drake is nor for as long as Drake has just based on “timing”. Son has been on top of the music game through multiple changes in the industry.
