“I thought Drake would be here only 3-4 Years…He did some Michael Jackson sh*t. If I wanted to leave rap it would be in good hands” - Snoop Dogg

Snoop the most overlooked goat caliber rapper. He need to be in that convo too. Especially as far as runs go

he has had multiple hits in every era of rap thru each decade. Iconic, Timeless ones at that

but i’m not watching that interview off speedy alone. dude a straight dikkrider and lame
Snoop made some great music but he only marginally better than Dre when it comes to writing lyrics. :francis:

You gotta give the guy his due. A 15 year run in any genre in any era is insane. Drake knows how to make hits, is willing and able to shift to whats hot, and the thing that I think really has helped him is he has stayed focused. He never veered off into other shyt to the point that music took a back seat. Thats the most surprising thing for me as I figured he would slide back into acting and try to Will Smith it. I dont think anybody can honestly say they say THIS coming.
Beyonce had a 15+ year run. Taylor Swift had a 15+ year run. Eminem had 15+ year run. Nas had a 15+ year run. Jay-Z had a 15+ year run. Kanye had a 15+ year run. Snoop had a 15+ year run. Ice Cube had a 15+ year run. LL Cool J had a 15+ year run. Lil Wayne had a 15+ year run. Dr. Dre had a 15+ year run.

I'm not discrediting Drake's run per say but I'm just pointing out that staying relevant for 15 years in music isn't as uncommon as you're making it out to be. Maintaining a run for 20 years is usually much harder.

Now, if you're arguing that Drake "ran the game" for 14 years, that's very dubious cause he was definitely in Wayne's shadow until Take Care dropped. Drake had tons of competition for the top spot in rap until 2015 imho. Also, due to the decline in newer rap stars, Drake's been "on top" more so because the Gen Z rappers are coming and going or literally dying before they can make it to the top.

Overrated but with a goat Flow. Flow is one of the most underrated part of being a rapper and Snoop had it.
Goat flow over Dre beats but he’s pretty underwhelming without Dre.

This is false. Will Smith was an actor with ghost writers that made music that had ni profanity. Big Willie Style is one of the biggest albums of the 90's. He had another album that was double platinum in 1999. Nelly and Ja Rule were huge in the '00's and they made similar music to Drake.

Will was a TV star and a holdover from the golden age, Nelly and Ja had street element around their music from the beginning, those dudes weren't Drake

Them Lo Lifes...
Drake is a permanent plant.

His machine is machine'in.

Drake identifies more with Elvis than Eminem, in context to fabricating careers/talent.

Trey Songz is a superior singer AND rapper than Drake...but thats a different convo.

Bro goes from Wheel Chair Jimmy to Drake in a matter of years...hell of a typecast identity switch up.

It was rumored Dre had Drake, but didnt wanna fukk with him...he blew it and dropped the ball.

One of the supposed reasons a up and coming K.Dot got the co-sign.

Breh is the rap Taylor Swift.

Yall have to learn to differentiate between lyricist/emcee and rap/hip-hop artist. Drake & Snoop are in the latter category, and their is nothing wrong with that.

They all made safe, soft music in comparison to their contemporaries. Not only that, but they were ampng the biggest of their respective eras. These excuses don't change the history. Especially since a lot of ya'll still go in on all three of them when its convenient, but are defending them in this thread.

For starters you named 11 people that rank among the biggest, most iconic names in music history. Being put in the same breath as any of those people is insane. Secondly, we doing some serious stretching with some of these 15 year runs breh :heh:. Those people all took breaks and had peaks and valleys. nikkas had entire movie careers, did bids, or just didnt make music for years. Drake has stayed in nikkas face musically for basically the entire time.

This is false and just pure hating. Drake would be a star in any era. Just say you don’t like his music. :russ: Y’all need to stop acting like every rapper from the 90s and 2000s was dope. There was plenty of mid and bad artist with respectable careers.
