Had nothing to do with being left behind tho

Just flat out choked and had bad rotations in the 2nd half
Offense fell apart in that second half because they had no spacing, and they didn't even try to create looks from behind the arc. A lot of their struggles would've been mitigated on that end if LMA and DeRozan weren't living in those mid-low blocks on every possession.

He’s won multiple championships due to drive and kick perimeter shooting

I did address it. You just don’t like the answer

You spoke about minutes. And you spoke on two new players

I said they are leaders and champions. Which matters on a team.

And I said those two dudes you making are has been trash. Is ANYONE talking about LMA or derozen for any basketball related greatness? No

One is for choking every year and being mental. The other ain’t been shyt since Portland

Pop will fix this when he gets more players.

Now what didn’t I address?

So Pop needs great players to be great...so hes not a genius neither is Phil-in Jackson or Brad Stevens.

When they dont have great players or stars they are impotent....

The problem with this is, we're in a whole different climate now where teams center their offense around the 3-ball. Pop never had to compete against that before, now the competition has the advantage on him. You're not winning in today's league when your two main options only exist in the midrange.

Idk why people come in here acting like this isn't the blatant goddamn truth.

Wasn't the knock on the Spurs forever and ever (although it wasn't necessarily true) that they were boring? That they played fundamental basketball? That they lived in slow half-court sets? That they focused on getting quality 2s and playing good defense?

Well, defense is gone in today's NBA. You're not stopping modern players and modern offenses. Half court 87ppg offenses are extinct as well. Quality 2s are no longer valued the way they were before.

The shyt the Don Nelson Mavs and D'Antoni Suns and Adelman Kings were doing in the early-mid 90s is what EVERY team is doing or trying to do now.

Pop was able to beat it before. Because the game allowed him to. He can't beat it anymore, he has to join it. We're still waiting on him to do so.

And now that his HoF players that played at an extremely high level both in terms of talent and BBall IQ are all gone, he's getting exposed.

Act like LMA and Derozan are total garbage, brehs. Better than what a lot of teams have.

I was told the Spurs had a great system all these damn years... Even to the point that Kawhi was shaded for YEARS as a system player.

Where that system at doe

Their team's two main stars are Derozan and Lamarcus, probably the only 2 mid-range specialists left in the game.

Like other people said, Spurs helped invent this new era, and Pop just took a washed Spurs team to the playoffs, plus his wife died.

Give the man a break:popovich:

Kerr had great players and lost to lebrons cavs

Lebron was great for many years and never won shyt. Lost twice with 3 all stars, not to mention his other losses

Stevens ain’t won shyt so I’m not one of the media members sucking his dikk

and so on. Many coaches had great players, meant nothing. They didn’t win. Other coaches only won when they had great players

You’d be hard pressed to find NBA coaches, who won, with no good players. Larry brown and Detroit is close as you’ll get. You’ll never find another team like that.

So yea. He needs great players. So did Phil. So did pat Riley.

But a great coach gonna get you 5. Some teams have great players and won’t sniff the conference finals

It’s amazing that system with no Kawhi took them to the offs last year. But now he’s a bum not even 41 games into the season

Talk about a first take. 30 games vs 82 plus in the same span and y’all just going with the 30 games and excluded all other factors

Can’t wait for this thread to be upped next season

They have a better record than Houston and Houston shoots 3s all day. Stupid post when you consider their starting PG is out for the season.

Murray out for the year AND Lonnie Walker haven't played yet.

Team lacks a 3rd option offensively (which one of them would have been) more than anything but w/e

Lol nah breh, don't take it there.

I never called him a bum.

To me he's the greatest coach of the 90-10s era. That's almost 30 years of basketball.

All I'm saying, and I think Gil as well, is that Pop is being a little stuck in his old ways. Which is very reasonable and plausible given his past success, as recent as 2014.

But Steph Curry, and to a lesser degree Dirk, changed the game. Spacing, range, 3pt value, big men shooting, PnR, and the death of Iso Ball have all radically transformed the NBA in just a few years.

We see it every night, breh.

Spurs still out here playing struggle ball like he's got David Robinson and Antonio Daniels in this bytch.

Pop even came out and said a couple weeks ago that he doesn't even really consider the modern game to be true basketball. He basically called it a glorified 3pt contest. He's not necessarily wrong.

But the game is the game. Pop is disgusted. His teams and coaching style don't seem to have adjusted to the changing times.

You can argue semantics or nitpick a few words or stances in this thread here and there, but Gil isn't wrong with what he's saying and it's no "hot take."

Haven’t seen a lot of spurs game this season. but when I have their issue have been defense, not offense.

Even in pass years I thought they had good balance on offense. This season should be an aberration with a new big addition to offense and your starting of injured
