I'm not absolving Pop from anything. I just don't think his coaching was the problem in game 7. DeRozan and Aldridge had a ton of quality looks that they just missed. There are no adjustments for Lemarcus playing soft and Demar choking under the pressure. SA was in a position to win this series and their two best players shot a combined 13-37.
And what type of shots were LMA and DeRozan taking when they shot a combined 13-37?

I just maybe, but I'm still right. And you look stupid as hell for questioning me in the first place without paying attention to what I was actually saying.

:hubie:
You didn't prove shyt, you fukking faq. A 7th seed took a 2nd seed to the distance and remained competitive on the road to a team with the best home record. Stop patting yourself on the back just because your moms didn't hug you enough as a child.

Why are you speaking as if there was this great chasm between the Nuggets and Spurs respective talents?

Six wins was all that separated the two teams, most of which can be attributed to Denver having more depth than the majority of the league where they lived and breathed through the ability to outhustle and outman their opponents, not necessarily through their talent (that's not to say they don't have talent). Almost their entire Denver roster has NEVER been to the playoffs, with a coach who has ZERO playoff experience against a team who're led by two players who're amongst the best at their respective positions, years and years of playoff experience between them, with a support cast who also have playoff experience, and a coach who's been to the playoffs for 20 consecutive seasons.

Again, just like every other clueless ass muh'fukka in this thread, you're typing out this generic nonsense without any thought behind it.

Furthermore, this is less about the result of that series, and about the structure of the offense. Why are folks having a hard time comprehending this?

Since nobody else can/wants to refute the evidence posted, perhaps @Regular_P might be able to.

:lolbron:
No need to refute anything. Pop took an undermanned team in the west to the playoffs and LeBron wasn't even close. Denver's talent base dwarfs San Antonio's and it still came down to the final minutes of a game seven where Derozan shot 7-21 and Aldridge 6-16. Pop did a masterful job this season.

His biggest mistake this season was being stubborn and refusing to deal with the Lakers. Probably woulda been a higher seed and won a round with Ingram, Kuzma and Hart rather than Derozan.

BEfore the series nikkas was saying Spurs would win cuz of experience and coaching...Now that they lost they trying to flip it as a 7 seed taking a 2 seed to 7 games is an accomplishment :mjlol:

I heard that DeRozan was a different player with the Spurs and would evolve under Pop.

NOOOOOOPE !

No need to refute the fact the Spurs were arguably the worst team at generating good shots and suffered from more spacing issues than almost any other team? You don't think that taking more long 2s than 3s, while every other team takes more 3s than long 2s (most teams by a great margin) doesn't fall on Pop?

The difference between SA's and Denver's talent is minimal, and whatever margin that you may think that Denver has in their favor is made up by the Spurs' experience. Jokic, Murray and Malone have NEVER played/coached in the playoffs, whereas we know the playoff experience that LMA, DeRozan and Pop have - why are y'all constantly overlooking this to claim that Pop overachieved with this roster?

These nikkas upped this thread when the Spurs took a 2-1 lead, and now they're in here juelzing about bu-bu-but the Nuggets are a #2 seed.

:mjlol:

@The Fire is this the backfire you were talking about?

I do recall this being brought up quite a few times, it's funny how when DeRozan was perceived to been a different player it was because of Pop's tutelage, but the moment when he doesn't perform well, Pop isn't to blame.

@ISO

You don't think there's a problem with the Spurs taking more long 2s than 3s, when every other team not only takes more 3s than long 2s, but exceptionally more? What if this were a team with an unproven, middling coach, would you be of the same belief that there was nothing wrong with their scheme?
Would you have made this thread if they won the series is the question? Through regular season and playoffs they played the offensive juggernaut three point shooting Nuggets to damn near a draw

Belinelli, Mills, Bertans, Forbes, Gay shoot threes

DeRozan and Aldridge are midrange nikkas and don’t. Spurs managed to be 7th in offensive rating and they were 1st in 3PT% because they took efficient ones

He can still evolve...

It's only his 1st year here..

He definitely needs a 3point shot tho..
