200mb is not pointless at all

dont know about you but im usually getting between 16-20mbs per second downloading on my connection(i use uploaded)

plus i have a home server and i let multiple people stream movies/tv shows off my server remotely using plex

even when i had a 150mb connection it wasnt enough cause shyt would get slow and buffer alot if i was downloading something and too many people were streaming at the same time

now that i upgraded to the 205mb package everything runs smooth no matter what
You'll learn. Quick question for ya. You have Comcast?

250gb a month equals how much data per day?

How much per hour?

Or my original question, if your limit is 200mb per sec, how often are you using 200mb a sec?(you're not) online gaming for instance uses 1.5 to 5mbps. Netflix uses something small as well, can't remember off top. Surfing uses kb at a time.

So again, when have you ever maxed out your shyt to where you would notice a decrease? If/when you notice a decrease, you might think it's because of the bullshyt you said. But it's not reality. You'll learn that once you accurately answer my question :handshake:

I'm not a gamer and I don't stream as much as others do. I archive data. I download my media. I download anything I have the slightest interest in. I use duMeter, networx, nethogs and nload to monitor my bandwidth in real-time which allows me to know immediately if some traffic falls off when it's not suppose to. syncing from my servers overnight maxes out my bandwidth among other things and I rely on the speed being consistent since I want my bandwidth freed up by the time I wake up to initiate new downloads and not to slow down my web-surfing in general. Join a private torrent tracker and pick a torrent, you'll max out your connection in no time. download a 10+minute youtube video and you'll notice your connection max out.

No, it's because I don't do anything that requires really more than 100 mbps of bandwidth. 300 is overkill for my needs.

Yeah I know me gettin gigabit internet is overkill but I'll be using vpn so I still speed knowing it'll be a lil slower.

Even in your extreme case, you being fooled. You justifying your investment. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You have a server with stuff you collected. You feel your shyt is precious but it's not and could be streamed from all over :francis:

BUT THAT'S NEITHER HERE NOR THERE

In your extreme case, with your fast connections it shouldn't take long to download a movie file. 200mbps is a gig in 5sec? You only pulling 100tho? The it's 10sec. That's 6gigs per minute. I know you download alot but my question is are you downloading 100gb a day? :wow:

Yes, extreme cases could cause a momentary slowdown, you might have to wait 20min for a bluray instead 10. But to put this discussion into perspective. At 200mbps, you could have 125ppl streaming Netflix at the same time.

And outside of torrent trackers there are not many other places that would use that much data at once. I'm speaking for 99%of the population and you would know that as a person with a server who deals with this field of expertise :yeshrug:
