The smell and insert, write up, pics, everything.

Damn those notes still smell fresh if you keep your cds in a seperate binder or something. Open up the hard case a decade later..and the notes still smell like 1997, pure heaven.

mmmmmmmmmmm, CD insert smell........ mmmmmmm

Has anyone else noticed how cds from the 90s were made in better quality. Like i have cds like illmatic and the chronic that are scartched to absolute shyt, every part of the surface scratched but they still play perfectly. Nowadays the cd gets a thumbprint and skips.

maybe you just notice it more because you play new ones more often :manny:

i still buy cd's but only if i want to support the artist and 99% of the time i download first to make sure it's worth the money

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
I used the liner notes to cheat on tests.

(and it was always nice to know who they sampled from).

Had classics before the crib got robbed. Losing my beloved cd collection (which took a decade to accumulate to that level, lost count but somewhere in the 300-400 range)... Felt like losing a limb.

Cats always called me the musical britannica cuz i literally studied cd's instead of homework (you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at me though :(

HA, I can relate to this. I always used to (and still do) study every little bit of my CD's. I do this with records too, I probably have more wax than CD's actually.

Moving my collection is a bytch though. :noah:

Loved buying CDs but now if I support the artist I just cop on iTunes

the last CD I bought was Nas Life Is Good, first I did was rip it on my computer and put it on my iPhone, then put it in the closet with my 100+ other CDs. fukk am I going to do with CDs now? don't even have a CD player no more and I use Apply TV or bluetooth to play my music.

It was fun to buy CDs but that time passed for me officially, still support on iTunes though

I loved reading the liner notes, thank yous, and seeing the cover art.

Nothing will compare to buying CDs in the 90s. :ahh:

The frenzy when THAT ALBUM (which was like every other week) dropped, and meeting kids with the same taste as you. That was our social networking. :youngsabo:

Trust me when i say this that it was an overated expierence. I dunno what the hell everyone in this thread is bragging about.

As a kid you had to spend your hard earned money and take a gamble on an album not only with your money but also your time to discover a cd's overall wackness.

And then we had to swap out our cd's in our 3 disc or 6 disc cd changer boombox and deal with that bullshyt.

The invention of the mp3 and music going digital was the greatest thing to happen in my life ever being that i have extremely high standards when it comes to listening to hip hop.

One min I want to hear Game - Jesus piece. Now I want to hear Wiz and juicy j - in the plan. Now I want to hear TI's new album.
Ahhhh how about some classic nas next.:ahh:

You couldnt do all that before!!!
