Battles have to be with evenly matched careers in that moment, for artists. That's how they work. If nobody is talking about you right now, you can't go at the dude that's having the best run of his career and think people are gonna care. The levels of motion have to be close. You can't come out of exile dissing n*ggas. Nobody's gonna care.

Coming from a huge Kendrick fan Lupe would lyrically demolish Kendrick. Lupe is legitimately one of the 3-4 greatest pen games in rap history.


I honestly don’t think Kendrick wants them problems. His only chance would be if Lupe were to OD on the lyricism and go over the general audience’s head while Kendrick drops another Not Like Us anthem, but Lupe is smart enough not to fall for that trap.

Lupe is the real boogeyman of rap, that they claim Kendrick is. NO ONE mentions Lupe in terms of battling because they know his pen game is insane.

Although...

Looking back at his battle with Royce, Lupe didn't destroy him like the internet forums made it seem. Mickey won that battle. Factz diss track on Royce > Lupes. Easily.

Meaning that I don't think he's this battle god that people make him seem. There's a lot of lyrical aliens out there but that doesn't mean they can construct any type of song (ex. 95% of battle rappers).

Lu has already admitted that he's better than Kendrick lyrically but Kendrick makes better music. I also lokey think Kendrick is well aware of Lupes feelings and has been trolling him (Kung Fu Kenny, Damn collectors edition that could be played backwards when T&Y had the same concept, all the stars single cover, etc).

Despite all that, I think it'll never lead to anything because they have a common friend and collaborator in Ab-Soul and Lupe recently shouted out GNX.
