The greatest lie ever told.

MacOS Terminal shyts on anything Microsoft will ever ever build. Simply due to the fact that Mac OS has UNIX/LINUX underpinnings.

A MacBook Pro is a dev ops dream machine. I can have a full dev environment in my language of choice running natively on Mac OS in 15 min out of the box. Without ever opening a web browser.

It’s going to take a hell of a lot longer than that on a Windows machine. Hence every Silicon Valley company worth its salt having the MacBook Pro as standard hardware for developers and only non devs get a choice. Let’s not even get into other areas like the power of Apple Script or out of the box security.

Windows being for power users and MacOS being a toy is one of the greatest lies ever told. Started by cacs who consider downloading pirated games and running key gens to be “power”. :mjlol:
Oh damn I don’t mind being wrong
OP don’t know any of that, he wanted to switch off of feeling lol.

Can you post some YouTube videos on all that or/and articles. I’d like to be enlightened

Even so
C++ will make it easier to learn any language in my experience

I'm still a C++ rookie, but from all of the mentors Im fortunate to have around me, the people I do tell Im learning C++, and the previous although minor exposure I've had to Python, I would definitely sayy C++ is way more robust. That's why folks are scared of it... there is more to learn to use it vs Python....

Do u understand the uses and limitations of both languages? I’m seeing them lumped together in this thread and I question if u guys have working knowledge of either or just spewing random buzzwords.

Idk how powerful MacBook pros were in professional tech settings since online everyone champions laptops/PCs with great specs and tend to love linux. OP didn’t even do research now lol

I already plotting to cop a Macbook just for this purpose but I just need yall jewels and game to push me in the right direction because I'm lost in space with this big ass mainframe.

get a pre M1 macbook (without the bar) with 16-32gb and at least 500gb SSD.
use bootcamp to get at least windows on it. put linux as well.
install virtual box.

i am not sure if c++ is worth fully learning just as a segway into other languages because modern c++ is pretty extensive. if you have time and energy start with C (K&R), then C++ (stoustrup, myers*3). ignore sutrter and the romanian guy's books. stackoverflow has a good list. if you want more depth then add the stephen's unix programming books, the streams book with the fish on the front and then the knuth references. reading something on compiles (dragon book might be too old these days).

if you have any c++ questions brehs in this thread will be able to help.

first sentence in my post..... still a rookie. But it is going to depend on the user case as well. So there will be bias.....for my uses C++ is the language I chose to learn due to what I will need it for. But I can't argue with what you are saying

I mean, I'm still going to get the Macbook regardless because I want to try something new. I been dealing with Windows for all my life and just want a new beginning on the Apple side of the game.

Just got one shyts fire. fukk windows and android lol. Go do the odins project. It’s all you need.

C++ is definitely not a good language to start with. Seeing how it seems you’re not someone who likes to deep dive in research. I definitely suggest python, C or C# instead.

There's more or less some good discussion in here. As long as you don't emulate dudes with no drive like @sυrf, you'll be good :ehh:. Don't let TLR sell you the dream that it'll be easy, you'll bag some nebulous cert, and you'll wake up to a 6 figure job, otherwise you'll wind up jaded with hurt feelings, making passive aggressive threads about the industry and tagging successful brehs like @sυrf does now.

I didn't say it was a good language to start with. Someone else did so I was just continuing on from that. I have done more C++, C and C# than you will ever do. As a professional programmer. Add to that Java, bash/c-shell/bourne shell/ksh shell, Perl and some Javascript (:hhh:). Plus others.

Do you know what game of thrones and context free grammars have in common?
