Most people in tech I seen have been using macs lately
The greatest lie ever told.
MacOS Terminal shyts on anything Microsoft will ever ever build. Simply due to the fact that Mac OS has UNIX/LINUX underpinnings.
A MacBook Pro is a dev ops dream machine. I can have a full dev environment in my language of choice running natively on Mac OS in 15 min out of the box. Without ever opening a web browser.
It’s going to take a hell of a lot longer than that on a Windows machine. Hence every Silicon Valley company worth its salt having the MacBook Pro as standard hardware for developers and only non devs get a choice. Let’s not even get into other areas like the power of Apple Script or out of the box security.
Windows being for power users and MacOS being a toy is one of the greatest lies ever told. Started by cacs who consider downloading pirated games and running key gens to be “power”.![]()
What’s wrong with m1get a pre M1 macbook (without the bar) with 16-32gb and at least 500gb SSD.
use bootcamp to get at least windows on it. put linux as well.
install virtual box.
i am not sure if c++ is worth fully learning just as a segway into other languages because modern c++ is pretty extensive. if you have time and energy start with C (K&R), then C++ (stoustrup, myers*3). ignore sutrter and the romanian guy's books. stackoverflow has a good list. if you want more depth then add the stephen's unix programming books, the streams book with the fish on the front and then the knuth references. reading something on compiles (dragon book might be too old these days).
if you have any c++ questions brehs in this thread will be able to help.
