Bruh didn’t want to be in a xxl freshman class. Even though fans wanted it and xxl repeatedly reaching out to him. Not saying that everyone who appears on that magazine pops. But it does help wtf was he thinking.
XXL Freshman class was always a joke. They were always late to the party. A lot of those artists were already big before getting on the cover. The ones who weren't as established, the magazine really didn't do much to help establish them. I remember Lupe Fiasco and Plies being part of the 1st class. They had full albums out.
This was them trying to have their own Unsigned Hype with nowhere near the execution or success.
This is exactly how I feel. He's cool, dope at times, but I never saw him as a mega star, or having megastar potential.Nah breh never had anything special about him. He was nice and checks a lot of boxes but breh just has no charisma or star power honestly.
He's like Detroit's Wale if we being honest![]()
When I think of Sean, my mind immediately goes to his features, because he did so many and he was on songs with high-profile artists ("As Long as You Love Me," "Right There"). He's someone you get for a cool verse and honestly, he's the best at it. His voice just blends into the track seamlessly.
But he doesn't really have songs or verses that stand out to me. Dark Sky Paradise is the album where it seemed like he was about to elevate, but is it better than Drake, Kendrick, or Cole's best work? I can't really think of any moments where Sean rapped and I believed he was on the same level as those guys. If this was WWE, Sean would be upper midcard. Multiple IC title runs, but he didn't have what it took to be world champion.
Also, what songs did Sean write on Graduation? Everyone says that, but no one's ever given receipts.
This the rap equivalent of when you had that one classmate who got a C on the test but says whatever, if they had studied, they have gotten a B or A too. Woulda coulda shoulda
Label problems he fell off right when he started to pop. Tried to comeback but it was already over.
XV was always dope to me, a shame he mishandled his careerBruh didn’t want to be in a xxl freshman class. Even though fans wanted it and xxl repeatedly reaching out to him. Not saying that everyone who appears on that magazine pops. But it does help wtf was he thinking.
In the 2013 ish era that this probably happened that would've definitely helped XV out. Not every artist makes it but it had much more of a presence back thenXXL Freshman class was always a joke. They were always late to the party. A lot of those artists were already big before getting on the cover. The ones who weren't as established, the magazine really didn't do much to help establish them. I remember Lupe Fiasco and Plies being part of the 1st class. They had full albums out.

Boy stfuEvery rapper in the title of this thread is crazy wack and hip-hop would be better without them

Platinum is platinum. What's your pointA lot of them shyts didn't go plat in real time it wasn't til they counted streaming towards your sales. I remember some of them early albums flopping with hit singles too
Platinum because 1M people bought your album is different beast than plat because only 50k people played your album over and overPlatinum is platinum. What's your point
