He could have potentially gotten into the conversation but he trivialized his brand and didn't put nearly as much effort into touring as Drake/Cole/Kendrick did. Drake was doing full arena tours pretty quickly whereas it took the other two a few years to get to that level. By 2017 both Cole and Kendrick were headlining massive arena tours while Sean was touring ballrooms and House Of Blues venues on his own tour. So to me the difference isn't really about sales or hits, it's about who built their fanbase right and who didn't. And it's hard to build a fanbase when the perception is that your music/albums is just a collection of singles, single attempts, and heavy features. That bond that Drake/Cole/Kendrick created with their own fanbases is what underlined their success, but Sean didn't have that.

BTW I don't think it's because Sean is a trash artist. I blame his team and his own focus on hits.

He doesn't deserve it over Cole. Like I said. As far as influence, sales, longevity etc etc. There isn't a big 3. There's a big 5. That's Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Future, and Nicki. That big 3 shyt is pretty much cap.
Relax.

This is cap. There really isn't a big 3. It's a big 5. It's Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Future, Nicki. Literally NO disputing this. Every chick that came after Nicki owe they shyt to Nicki. Nicki is literally one of the most successful rappers male or female in the last 15 years. And probably THE most commercially successful female rapper of all time. No disputing that.

And with all that she’s NOT bigger than Cole, Kendrick, or Drake. All three of their peaks were bigger than hers. She doesn’t outsell them. Out-tour them. Or outdo them in anything

If she doesn't. She's right there with them. Regardless I really don't get the point. Shorty basically had the highest first week sales of a hip hop artist just last year. Even after they took 100k from her. Nicki is the best selling female rapper of all time brodie. Over 100 million records sold. She's sold more records than Cole for sure.

To be fair, I think he tried and it probably would’ve gone different if Roc Nation managed him from the jump. Kanye didn’t put any effort into dude. And first impressions last. Sean’s problem is he raps about what he’s feeling instead of showing you if that makes any sense. It’s like he gives you quick summaries without delving too deep.

She was probably bigger than them around her debut (not Drake) but fumbled.

The “point’ was that the poster said Nicki was bigger than the three of them and I pointed out by every metric we can use that she’s not. Lil Kim was at one point the biggest female rapper of all time, was ANYBODY putting her in the top three over Biggie, Jay-Z or Nas? Absolutely not.

Nicki is an important artist no doubt, hampered by a bad attitude and terrible taste in men, but even with that she’s wildly successful, nobody would argue that. And if there WERE a big 5 then she’d be in that conversation. But in Hip Hop there has never ever been a “big 5” conversation or debate, its always been the big 3. There’s TOP 5, which involves overall legacy, but when it comes to whose ruling Hip Hop over the course of “age” or “era” its always been the big 3. And the big 3 for the past decade and some change has been unquestionably Drake, Kendrick, and Cole. And this is coming from someone who cannot stand Drake because he’s a fraud who used ghostwriters. Nicki’s pen has been authenticated by everyone so if I COULD in good conscious slide her into the big three then I would, but it would be laughably ridiculous to do so. Nicki ain’t touching Cole, Dot, or Drake in sales peak, touring, or impact. She’s not touching them in acclaim, awards, or reverence. She doesn’t move the needle like any of them. If they are A+ artists then its safe to say Nicki is A-.

Thats why it takes more than just a hot start to run an era. Nobody’s denying Nicki is popular or one of the most successful of her era, she just never reached big 3 status or anywhere near it because by the time Cole and Kendrick took off they left everyone besides Drake in the dust. By 2016 Cole was moving damn near 500K first week on an album that had NO features whatsoever or additional help. A year later Kendrick was moving 600k first week on an album that had no other rap features with a bonafide rap song hitting number 1 (no sung hooks, no catchy beat) Hell by 2016 Kendrick was doing Nicki numbers on a Lost Tapes style compilation album that had no singles, videos, or hype whatsoever outside of simple demand for more music.
