I vote to honor the Black folks who literally died for that right. It's the least I could do and in NYC it is very easy. I had to stand in line for like an hour to vote for Obama the 2nd time. Every other election day there is no line and it takes all of 5 to 10 minutes to do. It's easy.

I really wonder if ice cube examines the policies, Dem and Republican, of both parties.

Nothing about him or his comments ever displays that “THIS…. is a man who examines public policy” and can speak to its impact on the people. And looking throughout this thread, many in here don’t either.

So I really don’t understand the eight page waste of time many posters in here chop it up around.

Whatever is being done via policy is marginal and not effecting every Black person. People are discussing very big and tangible outcomes. We get abstractions that are hard to measure and impossible to collectively feel. For example, the child tax credit the beginning of Biden's administration was nice but it was hundreds of dollars a month and eventually ended. It was a marginal change that didn’t last. Those are the types of things we get. People want something bigger/more tangible.

Tell me “the whatever.”

That’s the minutia. At the moment, I’m trying to work with legislators on the rash of illegal smoke shops that are open throughout Brooklyn without a license and are selling all the shyt to our kids. I’m just wondering what are the policies people are looking at because all I get is “whatever”, and no one deals in specifics where they have a problem or willingness to fight for a policy.

Eight pages… Eight… And not a single shred around policies and the parties they are tied to. I’m tired of these talks because it’s almost 100% empty and people pretending they have a vested curiosity on what government policies work for or against us.

I did just mention the child tax credit.
Dems act like they are so sympathetic to our plight and all we get is marginal improvements. Are you very sympathetic or not? It seems not or else your legislative proposals would be more expansive not marginal.
The state tried to open a legal weed dispensary on 125th St. in Harlem and local Democrat pols stopped it because they said it would be a hazard to the neighborhood. What?! There are illegal unlicensed shops all over Harlem and you block the only alternative? Why?

Anybody that downplays why we have supported Democrats over the past couple decades is a bozo and they’re typically wealthy people that are somewhat immune to the economic policies republicans push that over whelming affect black communities. Having said that I don’t think we as a community should blindly vote for anybody but to act like the Republican Party doesn’t push overtly racist policy is batshyt crazy

Those legislators are idiots. The ones in Brooklyn are all for the legalized legacy Smoke shops because they know they properly grow their flowers and aren’t catering to children. What the fukk is going up on with Dem in Harlem? :dahell:

Ice Cube wouldn’t have even been able to become a successful rapper/entrepreneur if republican ideals at the time were upheld. The first president bush was trying to get them out the paint

They want their cut? I don't know, I'm puzzled myself.
Dems also discourage new blood. The president has Alzheimers, the House leader finally gave up power at 80 and the Senate leader is geriatric. No new local legislator can't get traction. The party only supports the old regime. You got to play a serious inside game to get anywhere. It's more exclusionary than cooperative which leads to a lot of discouragement.

Are you really going to say that is an attribute that is democratic only, I have a lot of young friends who are making inroads within the Democratic Party. My issue is around policy. Nothing coming from the Republican party sounds beneficial to me when it comes to the black community. I find democratic policies, much more friendlier, and I could lay them out. What is ice cube examining?

You got Dems with around the edges policy proposals if they win and racist Republicans. You don't understand why people may be unenthused with both? It's
not an either or I think most think they just both suck.
Ice Cube is looking at results probably. That's where the rubber meets the road not rhetoric when people are running for office.
