big worm on vladtv said tucker was worried sick about friday, that the low budget movie might ruin his reputation as an inspiring actor
it wasn't about religion, it was about business.

his next big movie was my fav of all time 'Money Talks' then the rush hour trilogy.
there was no way he was going back to cube and them
remember he only earned $5K for his role as smokey
But Friday is a cult classic that is highly influential? Why would Chris worry about the success of the movie when it was an instant hit?

Because when he filmed it at the time, he hadn’t been in any big roles. Black actors don’t have the luxury of not being typecasted or having multiple flops and still bouncing back like their white counterparts.

After Friday, he then starred in Dead Presidents, The Fifth Element, Money Talks, Jackie Brown, Rush Hour and hasn’t looked back since. No one could’ve predicted the impact Friday would have prior to it being released.

Soul Plane would’ve killed most actors’ careers but Kevin Hart managed to bounce back.

Also, Ice Cube is shady. John Witherspoon talked about how stingy he was with paying his cast.

It makes plenty of sense. The formula that was used by Chris Tucker on the first movie carried on to the next two movies.
No, it doesnt. Cube wrote the script before Chris Tucker being involved and created a new character for Chris not returning. Unless there was rumors of a Smokey cameo in real time Chris had nothing to do with why people watched the sequels.

I mean character wise I agree. Dayday was much funnier than Smokey to me. Funnier dynamic with Cube too

I agree that Cube and Epps were a better fit because they complimented each other. Chris Tucker outshone Ice Cube by a country mile and really showed up Ice Cube’s average acting.
