I really miss this kind of music.....it made people evaluate life and really take a look at things. Where is the conscious music now? I know it's there, but it's buried so deep that the average hood cats will never be able to find it.
Cube making sh*t like this really hit cats.....because it was Ice Cube...NWA/Fu*k The Police/Jheri Curl Ice Cube.....It wasn't some random underground dude that no one outside of his hometown ever heard of.
A lot of the hood cats would reject DC's content nowadays because like someone said in here, people are about that party and trap life. Questioning values and going after oppressive institutions is no longer the thing to do.

Talk about variety........EVERYBODY had a lane, gangsta, conscious, party, wack lol.......Bruh, this is a SMALL playlist of the shyt that was on the radio in CALI 1991, no revision, no bullshyt, nikkaz was some tape havin play n record pushin maffukkaz....So much dope music to choose from that year, ridiculous.I hear EXACTLY what you sayin bruh......But in 91 the amount of music that had dropped that you can pick n choose from? And was on the RADIO?Talk about variety........EVERYBODY had a lane, gangsta, conscious, party, wack lol.......Bruh, this is a SMALL playlist of the shyt that was on the radio in CALI 1991, no revision, no bullshyt, nikkaz was some tape havin play n record pushin maffukkaz....So much dope music to choose from that year, ridiculous.

With the exception of NWA, Ice Cube and Scarface, I remember hearing every single one of these songs on the radio (daytime radio at that) in the Bay. And I was only 10-11 in 91 - so you probably right about NWA, Cube and Face.![]()
Bruh, radio on in the crib, AC transit, everywere......First time I heard Mr. Scarface is back was on KMEL, afternoon at that. Alwayz, and Steady got major daytime spins. You remember when this shyt dropped the following year? ALL up on the radio and got the shyt edit out of it. How many times they bleeped the word "nikka" on this cut was beyond hilarious. Probably the most ignant, dopest, conscious record ever played on daytime radio
I shoulda known by that name "mobbins" you was out there at some pointBruh, radio on in the crib, AC transit, everywere......First time I heard Mr. Scarface is back was on KMEL, afternoon at that. . AND they would play the nursery rhyme skit with Mr. Sacarface Is Back, every time.

My name on here, in hindsight, is awful. Its supposed to be Mobb Infamous mashed up. But no one seems to get that. But yeah I grew up in the Bay.
KMEL was the shyt back in the days. So was CMC. I don't remember hearing that X-Clan record on the radio though. How old were you around this time? Seems you have a much better memory with this stuff.

Cats who don't remember or were too young........They was playin these cuts when they first dropped REGULARLY on the hour. AND they would play the nursery rhyme skit with Mr. Sacarface Is Back, every time.
Fire and Earth on on the hour when it first dropped. Went out to Chicago to visit fam that summer, guess what my 50+ uncle was bumpin in his van when he came to pick us up from the airport?
"I remember all those times that you called me an animal......."
Never even knew the nikka listened to rap![]()
