I dont even know how this is a contest. unless u were born in the 90's, there's no way u can pick prodigy over cube. cube has too many classic albums/songs in comparison to prodigy.

cube had folks thinking dre and easy-e could actually spit back in the day. not only the piff on the NWA albums, but his first 3 or 4 solo joints were nothing but straight :fire:
It's a contest because The Infamous is better than any Cube album and from 94-99 Prodigy was better. You might disagree with the above, like I said originally I got no beef with anyone that picks Cube, but you are sorely under rating P to act like it's no contest.

In real life I hardly ever hear Cube mentioned as an MC. While I always hear about Infamous and Hell On Earth all the time. Hear about the N.W.A shyt sometimes of course, but overall hear about Mobb Deep much more. Listening to Infamous now and it's more captivating than any Cube project to me, prefer Havoc to Cube too. But Cube is probably a bigger icon/legend. But musically I think P has been a better MC overall.
Havoc over Cube? :comeon:

True & this goes hand in hand with his image as a rapper not as an emcee. Lyrics, flow, delivery are P & it's not even close. You can play P's music/verses from the mid 90's & they still sound modern. I can't say the same for Cube.
It's definitely close though...P is better but Cube was a beast.

Bro, using Youtube as your source is pretty insane. One album sold 1.1 Million copies in a year, with only one real single, the other song was really for CB4. And the other one barely went Gold after being out 19 years. This is no comparison in terms on which album was more popular.
Infamous did 700-800k on its original run as I recall at the time.
Also, in talking with people who don't know much about hip hop - I get the sense they know about The Infamous before DC. For what that's worth. Only heads know about DC and rate it as high as it should be rated (top 5).

I'll bottom line it: Cube had a waaaay bigger impact, made more classic music and was a better rapper than Prodigy. Only thing Prodigy has over Ice Cube is....... Can't think of anything. Nevermind
It's hard to argue against the first two.

That's not even true, Mobb went Gold a few months after Infamous came out. The RIAA hasn't tracked it sales since then.

GOAT rap album? You say that as if it's fact, I know if you made a poll on this forum Cube would lose against The Infamous.
We need a DC vs Infamous thread. @The Ruler 09

And I think we need to clarify....people can say "well I prefer P"....but to say "I hear about Mobb Deep more"....it's meaningless. It can't be because of record sales, Cube sold more than Mobb Deep's entire discography. It can't be because of impact, for obvious reasons. So if you roll with people that prefer east coast rap....or Mobb Deep in particular, then yeah obviously you'd prefer Prodigy. But Cube at the height of his career was 100x more influential, and visible, than P or Mobb Deep. You're talking about a group that barely went gold while NY was at the height of it's influence vs a guy that was going plat with no airplay.

Fred.

Nah, I was only saying that in response to something someone else said. I know it means nothing in regards to who's superior. Like people acting like it's a ridiculous comparison, well A LOT of people think it so it's not really ridiculous, if someone picks Cube I can see that, likewise P. But the reality is a lot of people feel that way. I don't care about no coast shyt, just music, to me I got P. I think part of it is stylistically, Cube can sometimes be a bit simple for my tastes.

"The Infamous" would lose, and people would cop pleas as to why. Trust me. It's a great album but it's not the album some of you are making it out to be.

Fred.

Will make the thread to check if no-one else has, you could be right on here, cause a lot of people think DC on here. But that would be a surprise, I thought Infamous might win.
