GOAT rap album? You say that as if it's fact, I know if you made a poll on this forum Cube would lose against The Infamous.

Make the poll. What's funny is the dude you're arguing with is from NY, and even he thinks you sound crazy.

I'm a fan of both. Both are legends.

But how did each do when they weren't part of a group (of course, cube wrote everything for his group ... P wrote his verses)?

I think cube had better solo records. While I agree that "the infamous" is better than most of cube's solo work ("death certificate" is debatable) ... you have to then count "straight outta compton" for cube.

maybe prodigy could have done more, but went to jail. I don't know. But I don't think he'll ever be at cube's level.

Why do i keep seeing "the man who made the infamous" it's a mobb deep album with p hand hav handling the rhymes 50/50 and havoc doing the production, there's maybe 3 guest verses amongst cube's first 3 projects
2. there is absolutely no clear technical advancement from AMW/KAW to the infamous which came out 5 years after

3.In my opinion it's much more impressive to tackle a wide range of subjects while flowing and coming correct lyrically as opposed to glorified tough talk

next time you listen to infamous (an album i absolutely love) notice how many rhymes consist of "nikka tried to kill me but i killed him first" in different variations

both mc's have classic voices and deliveries so it should never be held against either one but it can make a simply good lyric seem amazing

I don't think a poll is even necessary see any discussion on this forum about top albums. The Infamous is incredibly well regarded around here.

And I think we need to clarify....people can say "well I prefer P"....but to say "I hear about Mobb Deep more"....it's meaningless. It can't be because of record sales, Cube sold more than Mobb Deep's entire discography. It can't be because of impact, for obvious reasons. So if you roll with people that prefer east coast rap....or Mobb Deep in particular, then yeah obviously you'd prefer Prodigy. But Cube at the height of his career was 100x more influential, and visible, than P or Mobb Deep. You're talking about a group that barely went gold while NY was at the height of it's influence vs a guy that was going plat with no airplay.

"The Infamous" would lose, and people would cop pleas as to why. Trust me. It's a great album but it's not the album some of you are making it out to be.

Mobb Deep did not barely go Gold like I said The Infamous went Gold in two months, Hell On Earth went Gold in 5 months, Murda Muzik went Platinum in two months and is certified 2x Platinum. The RIAA hasn't done a great job of tracking their sales over the years.

Cube was the bigger star there's no disputing that.

Really? Which Cube album do you want me to put it up against? My favorite Cube album is The Predator but most will say Amerikkka's Most Wanted or Death Certificate is his best.

You insist P will lose, don't be surprised breh :mjpls:

I stanned Cube the way a 12 year old Stan's an athlete. My pre teen/early teen years I'd say Cube & Darryl Strawberry probably meant as much to me as any celebrity, ever.

That said, Prodigy easily. Cube has possibly the single most shameful fall off of all time under his belt. I realize Prodigy fell off too but I love the last 7 or so years of Post Apocalypse P's output.

Cube is a metaphor for shattered dreams and naïveté to me at this point.
