Understood, but to fix immigration you have to go after employers on criminal tax evasion charges. That includes the bullshyt temporary hiring firms that create fake hiring documents and the companies that hire people off the books. You also have to crack down on regular folks that hire illegal immigrants to do stuff like being nannies, cleaners/housekeeping; cutting yards and doing home repairs. The government in turn would collect billions of dollars in lost revenue by going after the employers. The immigrants would leave on their own if they knew that they couldn't even get off the book work and crooked ass employers would definitely get the message. It would be less invasive than massive roundup and with much more ruthlessly efficiency.
