Only Americans call it soccer. :beli:

Actually soccer was the accepted term in Britain from 1890 to the 1970s

When the north American soccer league brought soccer to the
Americans inn the 1970s and the Americans quite reasonably
Adopted the English word, the british stopped using it and started calling
It football

instead of attacking the threadstarter, why not just do what he says?
The average Amrican DOES find soccer boring and maybe they would watch with a few tweaks, just like the same way hockey realized they needed to change some things.

Your seriously over rating yourselves.

We don't give a fukk if you watch it, your sports are shyt to most Europeans (don't get me with basketball is popular over here, I e drank in bars all over Europe and not once seen a basketball match being shown, lol@baseball (silly boys rounders) and American football(no one even cares enough to learn the rules))

The world cup is the biggest/greatest sporting event in history and it always will be, we don't need the usa's input, it'll be fine.

Lol@the Super Bowl having a concert at half time, wtf?

Nah, the rules are there for a reason, offside is a basic part of how the game is played, I don't even know soccer that well but I understand that without that rule it would be crazy. Hell consider it the "3 second" rule of soccer, it would be equally stupid to take out that rule in basketball IMO, in one or another you have to keep players from camping in one spot the whole game. Soccer is already more physical than NBA basketball, and you got to be trolling with that last suggestion. If the US don't like the game, that's on you, not on the game. The rest of the world doens't really like baseball or american football, so we just don't care about it.

Watching this Italy-England game, there's definitely some ways the game could improve in my humble opinion:

1) the biggest thing I see, is that player speed is negated by offsides. Especially Balotelli, a lot of times I saw he wanted to bust open, but he just stood around waiting for the players to get back. I think that you shouldn't allow players to just "cherrypick", by cherrypick I mean just hanging out in front of the other team's goal, but once the ball changes possession, players should be allowed to run. It would allow a "fast break" ala basketball, and open up the game a bit more I think.

2) Some physicality should be allowed. I think it would be cool if you could lead with the shoulders when trying to take someone off the ball.

3) It would be cool if the penalty kicks were one on one defensive player vs offensive player, as opposed to just kicking it. It's almost an 80% chance the penalty goes in, I think if the offensive player had to beat a defensive player one on one, it would be more interesting.

Just a few thoughts from Yankee, let me know your opinions.

you can lead with the shoulder as hard as you want as long as you dont extend your arm etc...

the offside rule is the only thing that stops an opponent just chilling at your goal line the whole game

the fukk are you retards talking about?

oh and did you forget? football (there is a reason why you call your sport AMERICAN football, and not just football) is the most popular sport in the world...they're hosting a world cup in qatar to help boost the games popularity in that specific part of the world, America's relevance is in that bracket

noone gives a fukk about American soccer :laff:

Then why bring the game over here? Why start MLS and the other various failed leagues over the years. Why do a ton of parents start their kids out playing soccer?

There's a GIANT amount of money to be made if America embraces a sport.

breh...i really don't think you understand how irrelevant America is to football.

Listen to me when I tell you this....NOONE and I mean NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE gives a fukk about America's opinion when it comes to football...you have 0% influence on the game and we could give less than 0% of a fukk if America embraces it or not

as i've already stated...they've specifically given the world cup to qatar to help improve the popularity of the game in that specific area...that's the bracket of relevance America is in :russ:

I think a good change would be a power play sort of thing, MULTI-BALL.

If at the end of the game it's 0-0 then each team gets 3 balls to try and score. That way we wouldn't have boring 0-0's.
