I guess this is a product of the average age around here. Aaliyah's last cd wasnt received with the same fan fare as the previous efforts. "We Need A Resolution" wasn't blowing people away like "Are You That Somebody" or "One In A Million" did though I like the song. Her last cd opened up at #19 selling 62k first week then the numbers got inflated when the plane went down. Could she have bounced back? Who knows but think about it...In 2001 internet piracy wasn't nearly as prominent as it is now. What would she have sold if things are like they are now? Sounds like Troy Ave Game Ciara numbers. What major act do you know whose sales have sunk so low? Aaliyah would have ended up on the coroners tray like Ciara,Ashanti, Mya, Keyshia Cole etc all eventually ended up.
Last album opened with 187K debuting at #2. The week of the plane crash, it was selling 62K.
The only truths in that post is the bit about "We Need A Resolution" and "who knows if she could've bounced back". Internet piracy in 2001 indeed affected sales, but music was still selling at a pace where albums could still rebound and go platinum.
We don't know if Aaliyah would've gone the way of Ciara, Ashanti, Mya, and Keyshia Cole or went the way of Rihanna.
