I say the music is retarded and can make you a remedial thinker if you listen to it too much.

As far as the actions. Weak minded people are effected by anything. I'd say it's a small percentage is acting it out these things.

I grew up listening to NWA, Get Boys, etc. But then again they were dropping knowledge the same time while talking about the streets.
All I know is I used to listen to a lot of Too Short and Eazy E when I was a kid and I went hard on them hoes for quite a few years.

Lets blame trap music for us being at the bottom of the totem pole in the 1700s

It was definitely holding us back in the 1800s

Jeezy sure did have an impact on our mind state in the 1900s

Can't forget about Rocko, Gucci, and Tip in the 1930s

21 Savage and Future sholl was the reason we had a generation of shook nikkas in the 50s

yall fools sound ridiculous, if u like that lyrical miracle shyt fine.....but don't try and act like a sub genre of a genre is the reason shyt is the way it is.
I am fascinated by how so many of our people will acknowledge that mainstream media has played a major part in our social conditioning but perceive rap as an exception. It makes no sense. Listening to ANYTHING reptitively will have an effect on your sub conscious and trap rap is no exception. Its unfortunatr that this music has extremely self destructive messages.
Countering the effect this music (which is social conditioning whether you acknowledge it or not) has on the minds of our children will be one of our peoples greatest challenges.

I don't necessarily rock with all the views of Loury, Darity, or Hart but they are much better at articulating the situation poor Black people find themselves in than these new "conscious" rappers. Not just some simple tropes or hotep lite analysis.

:gucci:

Of course they would be. They're intellectuals engaging in discourse. Tell them to put those words over a beat, package it for an audience, and see if they could maintain the same level of analysis.

Would you say Marvin Gaye was using "simple tropes" on What's Going On or Bob Marley's music was "lite hotep analysis?"

Positive music is more about creating a vibe or sprit than it is about providing in depth social analysis. It's the soundtrack not the movie.

Do you want people chanting "Fight the Power" or "Molly, Percocet?"

But they are attempting to put forward in-depth social analysis in their music and interviews, and their fans (as seen in this thread) co-sign their flawed analysis. Gaye and Marley also weren't engaging in some condescending moral grandstanding in their music filled with half-assed analysis.
