It's not really an overstatement if you think about it. He's the highest-selling rapper in history (either him or Pac), known not just in hip hop circles but in the pop community as well,

He's a white person. Even Eminem knows Eminem greatly benefited from white privilege.

Ain't no way in hell he would've sold that many records if he was black especially given the content of music.

Serious question.

The guy has been trash for over like 12 years. Would he especially now get that respect? I have always said his music will age terribly and it has been shown as the years go by. Only song they will be playing is Stan.

I wanna see all the lame Eminem stans give me their own 2 cents.

Man, Eminem is my favorite rapper, but even I can admit the day he dies will be the first of many annoying days on the internet by FAR. Em's a legend, no doubt, but Cacs would elevate that nikka to Jesus level. Contrary to popular belief in this thread, everybody would feel the impact of his death and it will be all over the media for weeks. Would he garner as much as respect as MJ/Prince? Nah. But a huge amount of nikkas will be in their feelings reminiscing, no doubt.

This guy thinks because even eminem's biggest haters love to listen to "stan"(lets be honest most of us do....that something like that equals 20 eminem songs they listen to in the hood.

Not every rapper can be played in the clubs, but alot are good to listen to in headphones like nas.

When you cant do either especiallu in the black community your a straight up failure.

I dont think guys understand how bad eminem's music is aging/will age.

And? I'm aware of that. We're ALL aware of that. That's not the point. The question isn't why he's a significant figure. The question is if he is and if people will mourn him after his death.

Look, pal, I'm not calling him the greatest rapper of all-time. I'm not saying that people will mourn him anywhere near the MJ/Prince realm because it's ridiculous to even suggest that. What I'm saying is he's not an MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice novelty act. He has earned several accolades, proved himself time and time again, kept his buzz for several years, people resonated with him because of his image, his skin color (to an extent), and because of his approach to writing. Hip hop culture has been downplayed and diluted so much to the point where morals and standards really don't come into play anymore.

We live in a world where the biggest rapper out got away with ghostwriting and became even more successful because of that. What really counts as a no-no these days?

Cacs would erect shrines and flock to his home..
For us it'd be like nothing has happened..
