And? I'm aware of that. We're ALL aware of that. That's not the point. The question isn't why he's a significant figure. The question is if he is and if people will mourn him after his death.

Obviously everyone`s not aware if I had to bring it up. All of which was a good point considering how much his huge sales has been brought up in this thread.

With that being said, I wonder why you felt so compelled to quote me bringing up this fact?:mjpls:

And the real question was

If Eminem dies would he get the same respect the same way mj/Prince did?

Not that bs you said in the bold.

Because you quoted me. :troll:

To think his death will be anywhere close to the MJ/Prince level is ridiculous, which I already stated in this thread. I was responding to someone else who was downplaying it like he isn't going to be celebrated because........black people don't really listen to his music.

I was just thinking about the bigger picture here but I'll agree to disagree.

It's not that big a deal to me, but whenever Eminem is brought up, a lot of people choose to be subjective about him. I don't really get it but life goes on.

When it comes to Eminem it's undeniable that race plays a big factor in his success. I think that needs to be mentioned in every thread when we have these type of threads involving him.

It is a mystery

Him being white or not Eminem was the biggest artist of any genre in the early 2000s. He's actually not that popular anymore compared to his older self but at 2 point in time he was the most popular pop icon performing
He will not get the same tributes as MJ or Prince because of the content of his music.
Believing otherwise about either part of what I said is being delusional

I understand that and I will never deny that had he never gotten the cosign from Dre, we would probably never hear about him. But race definitely isn't the only factor to his success. So many white rappers have came and went in the game, but he's been the constant for almost twenty years now. At some point, it just becomes redundant to mention every single time.

Look, pal, I'm not calling him the greatest rapper of all-time. I'm not saying that people will mourn him anywhere near the MJ/Prince realm because it's ridiculous to even suggest that. What I'm saying is he's not an MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice novelty act. He has earned several accolades, proved himself time and time again, kept his buzz for several years, people resonated with him because of his image, his skin color (to an extent), and because of his approach to writing. Hip hop culture has been downplayed and diluted so much to the point where morals and standards really don't come into play anymore.

We live in a world where the biggest rapper out got away with ghostwriting and became even more successful because of that. What really counts as a no-no these days?

hammer's death will hit harder than Eminem's in the black community.

I hear you with the bolded breh.:to:

Drake is a Jew, so his success is not based on merit but the Jew culture to stick by each other like glue from the Jew teenager to the Jews in media and corporations backing him.
Eminem's Whiteness and the support his community gave him also cannot be understated or underestimated..

Id feel nothing but a sense of relief if either of the above died tomorrow. Admittedly I've liked more Eminem songs than what Ive heard from Drake, but there'd be no sense of loss or sorrow,
Eminem and Drake are the reason Black people need to stick to each other hard.

NO RAPPER is on the level of Michael Jackson or prince in terms of national mainstream notoriety.

but the rap deaths that would get the most press would be:
in no order:
will smith
ll cool j
jay-z
Eminem - media & middle America
p.diddy

Maybe off topic, but I would like to know the reaction by the general public when Kanye would die within a few years. I wonder if it will be similar to MJ. Both were/are constantly shytted on by the public, but they have made a lot of hits and were influential af. When MJ died we saw how the public made a 180 degree turn. Wonder if that would happen when Ye dies, or Jay or Nas for example
Yeah is huge, but not MJ levels. MJ had classics that everyone loved. You can out on Smooth Criminal without more than half the room going :ohlawd:

Kanye isn't there, never will be. Not necessarily through any fault of his own, just different times. Back then it was easier to get everyone's eyes/ears on the same thing.
