No. Miami was the favorites, but Dallas was a better team and the worst matchup possible for Miami. Vastly better coaching staff that season, much deeper team, and they had shooters to space the floor. Between the regular season and playoffs they went 6-2 against Miami with 3 wins by 10+.

miami had the best 2 players of the series and honestly should've been up 3-0 if not for that game 2 choke job.

Most likely going 7 games with the 2nd best outcome being 6 games isn't a heavy favorite. Ziller was juicing that headline or didn't know the actual strength of the teams. Mavs were rated 1717 by ELO and Heat were 1721 before the start of Game 1.
