If Tyler the creators new album next week is critically acclaimed..is he officially a top 10 GOAT?

I like Tyler but he lost me after Wolf, I just feel like o couldn’t relate to it culturally.

Funny because my group chat liked Cherry Bomb, to be honest with you I guess it's what kind of Tyler fan you are...I rocked with his early shyt but it was hit or miss imo. The layer stuff I fw tho. As far as the question at hand he might not even be top three in his original crew(Earl, Domo, and Hodgy were better) and like mentioned earlier he's in that "artist" lane. Love his music though.

It’s going to have dj drama screaming all over it so it can only be so good. I’ve tempered my expectations. He’s not that great of a rapper.

I'll give him top 10 most relevant hip-hop artists of the past decade along with Drake, Kendrick, Cole, etc...but on some pure rap shyt? He's not cracking a list of the top 100 MCs of all time, never mind top 10.

Tyler is still niche. It’s kinda like Griselda, the people that fukk with it REALLY fukk with it. But many people have never heard a song from em.

nahh not by this point

you cant win a grammy for best rap album and not be at least a household name given their criteria

to answer the thread properly, like folk hve already said in here he’s definitely within the top 5 creative minds overall in hiphop today

he makes real easy to listen to music, his shyt just sounds good hes obviously a student of his craft

as a rapper hes not as bad as some people would say he is but top 10 of this generation alone is a stretch

There was a dude nominated last year that most people never heard of named D Smoke. His album doesn’t even have a wiki page. Winning a Grammy doesn’t equal household name

he didnt win

not to mention if we’re being honest last year was an outlier in terms of whats usually up there for the selection

My point is that everyone has heard a Drake, Kanye, Jay, Wayne etc song without even trying to hear it. MANY people have never heard a Tyler song. They might’ve heard of his name.

A lot of the generic top 10 lists, features rappers that are very well known. Tyler is not that. Tyler is one of my favorites but I’ve met too many people that have never heard at least one song.
