Study: Men who can do 40 push-ups have lower risk of heart disease

So, a new study that dropped said if you're able to do 40 pushups in a row, you have a low risk for cardiovascular disease (which, of course, doesn't mean you're not susceptible to it).

Who here can do 40 pushups in a row? I can do 60, though it's a struggle to reach it once I clear 50. :sas2:

I'm a lazy skinny nikka as far as health. Just started trying to do something with myself.

It's been 4 weeks. Every other day I do 3 sets of as many push-ups as I can do without bytching out.

Started at about 3 sets of 15. At 30ish now.

Within a couple weeks I'm apparently going to be on point.

And start of the year, I struggled getting to 20. :flabbynsick:

Now I’m doing 50 easily. My goal is doing 100 each day amongst my other routines.

Hard work and persistence brehs.:myman:

100 pushups in one set is :whew: I'm surprised by how much pushups drain me compared to benching. I don't work out as much as I used to because my body is sculpted the way I like it, with enough muscle to not be overbearing while remaining impressive in any fit. I lift once a week, but I always make sure to do 60 pushups when I wake up. I don't like bulk. I much prefer toned muscle, so I'm cool with limiting my workout while still making sure to stay muscularly lean. :francis:

Same here. I’m not trying to look like I’m on steroids. I’m happy to have an athletic physique. I’ve come a long way since January. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made naturally.

This is Thecoli, we do 1000 push in one minute! :blessed:

More seriously, what is better: a minimum number of sets with a lot of reps or a maximum number of sets with a low number of reps?

if your joints allow it, since no weight involved except self weight, higher reps is better

I noticed OP left out the most important part of the article for the people flexing in here

its 40 push ups in under a minute

for most in shape that should still be no problem.. but for some in here flexing you might wanna try again with the right timer :heh:

while some people can do way more than 40 push ups total without stopping

can you do push ups for a minute straight :usure:
