I really wish that in order for a Jamaican spot to have fire food the customer service does not have to be the worst.

I’m conditioned to get happy when the workers are rude to me because I know I am about to well

Having respect for customers. I've gone to way too many black owned business feeling unacknowledged and dismissed. A greeting and asking if I need assistance goes a long way. I remember walking into a black owned food joint and standing there there waiting to be served to a table for almost 10 minutes while employees looked me directly in the eye with no acknowledgement. It pains me to say that our customer service in general is bad. Especially when it comes to each other. Too many of us just lack basic respect for each other and it shows up in how we conduct business.

Just give Black businesses the same access to capital as the white businesses. That would solve 80% of the aforementioned issues. Lots of awesome Black businesses that would be even better if they had access to additional lines of credit.

This x 100. I live in the DMV area specifically PG County. I hate going to black owned spots and the menu is exactly the same. I really respect the black chefs that push the limit on what they offer to their customers. I don't always want soul food so I appreciate when black establishments offer something outside of thing. I also love Polished Steakhouse | 1799 Prime Steak & Seafood - Alexandria, VA which is just a straight up classic American steak house that is black owned. The soul food thing is tired.
