:scust: "u all fukked up like a offbeat blend"

I’m not a DJ, sue me:yeshrug: I do this shyt for fun.

In this thread, I’m a hater for not only being right, but explained the whole logical thought process behind why I had the hunch. I’m an idiot as well. Apparently I’ve attacked one of my favorite producers, Havoc’s, pedigree. I was asked to post one of my beats, cause I guess I can’t think havoc didn’t sample a stove unless I can make fire beats or something. I try and keep it hip hop and just flip the same sample and use the same acapella since this is a Shook Ones thread. And apparently my beats are trash. Should have let you nikkas believe he sampled the stove :picard:

You definitely got jumped a little bit. I think some of it was a little bit unfair.

I think there’s some truth to what you’re saying about letting people believe it was the stove :heh:

Personally I always thought they used the hi hat for the drive sound in the video after the fact. But yeah. Hav is underrated in general, as you know, and his reputation is fiercely protected on this forum.

Anything that could be perceived as a slight at Hav is usually not taken well on here, and keep in mind 85% of communication is lost when spoken, and more than that is lost when read. No one can hear the tone of your voice, etc.

I didn’t think you were dissing Hav but people want to hold onto their beliefs.

I feel you, but I can’t rock with the bolded. People in here stubborn. Not only did I praise havoc, I explained the thought process as to why I even questioned this. And gave multiple examples of why. Then I posted an article with Havocs own words. Even still after that, nikkas was acting like I was the one tripping. Ain’t no lost in communication, I was clear as hell and explained myself multiple times. nikkas gotta separate they fandom from emotions. It ain’t mad though, it go like that on thecoli sometimes, this shyt ain’t for the feint of heart :pachaha:

When I heard the sample for shook ones and saw a video breakdown of how hav chopped and pitched that sample my mind was blown!
:merchant: How the fukk do you even think to do that!?!?
As somebody who makes beats, he probably heard the piano loop and just started fukking around with the pitches at random, and then when he hit those two keys back to back he was like :ohhh: and decided to see where else he could take it.

He said he wanted to throw the beat away, too. So it was probably just some shyt he was experimenting with.

Let me guess. You think Q-Tip did it.
I’m glad it at least took someone this long to reply to this. I didn’t want to be the first one and bring attention to it.

Right? I mean even a casual ear can hear a difference between the stuff Tip worked on for that album and the stuff he didn’t. Tip wasn’t making beats that sounded like that.

It’s also well known that Hav made the beat alone and almost trashed it.

Right...like all the beats Q-Tip had a hand in have those loud ass sizzly snares and super compressed kicks. You see that with Survival of the Fittest, Give Up The Goods, Temperature's Rising, Up North Trip, Trife Life, and Drink Away the Pain. Start of Your Ending, QU-Hectic, Cradle to the Grave, Shook Ones, and Party Over, on the other hand, all have a consistent sound to them.

That’s Havoc man. He pitched those piano keys down so much that a lot of us thought it was a guitar or some kind of strings.

RZA did a similar thing with the pitch on Ice Cream but in reverse. It’s a guitar sample but I always thought they sounded like keys.

:ohhh: I would have never guessed that was a guitar sample. It always did sound like a piano.

I love hip hop, man. :wow:

He wanted to throw this beat away, too?! :dwillhuh: I read the same thing about "Survival of the Fittest" but Prodigy convinced him he should keep it.

speaking of Hav

I NEED to know if this is a sample.....whosampled has nothing on this. could be Hav playing guitar but I doubt it.

Pretty much everything Hav’s ever done is sampled. After the 00’s he started adding in more sounds on top to spruce things up, but there’s a ton of old Hav beats that aren’t on WhoSampled and I’m not sure will ever be found.

There’s still a lot of hidden gems on Hell on Earth that people haven’t figured out yet. He was pitch-shifting and bending sounds so much at that time. It makes it hard as hell to find the source material. RZA has mad 90’s shyt that’s yet to be found for the same reason. You may hear the sample but just never realize it.

WhoSampled is the most complete archive out there, but even still, it’s far from comprehensive. Most people will just never catch up to some of these legendary ears. And many of the ones that can find this stuff are other producers, and as such, they stay quiet and don’t snitch to WhoSampled about it. A lot of producers hate that website.

I’ve been digging a lot this year and I haven’t found this sample. But I’m always keeping an ear out for it. It’s fire.

Recently I found out both the Piano in Bring Da Ruckus and those spazzed out sounds at the end of the song are from I Wanna Go Outside in the Rain :wow:

I dunno how you let nikkas try to son you even though you had a legit quote from Hav from Revolt.TV
Well actually I do , you don't know how to use Google and enter the quote on the search engine and post the source smh.

Havoc talks ‘The Infamous’ album, the real story behind "Shook Ones Pt. II," and its 25th anniversary

The truth of the matter is that the hi-hat that I used on the actual track of “Shook Ones” sounds similar to a project stove. So, people made a correlation thinking I used the stove for the actual track because in the video, it’s the first thing that comes on along with the record. And they hear the hear the stove. So, people said, “Oh shyt, he used that for it!” Nah, it’s two different sounds, but they sound the same. It’s just a coincidence, but I let people sometimes think what they wanna think and let the track take on its own mystique (laughs).
